I'm sorry but these social media sites are fucking toxic and might fuel the end of us all.
So I'm endeavoring to pull away almost 100% and seek to meet and speak with people face to face. When I read Twitter, I come away thinking everyone is out of their mind angry, black people hate white people (primarily because of people like Jemele Hill and her sycophants), vice versa, etc, etc
But when I actually talk to people one in one in person from all walks of life, I find the exchange to be 180 degree different. I hope its genuine but for the first time in my life I've started to second guess whether they really are because social media has caused me to wonder if I'm just getting lip service and they really hate me because I'm "white" (whatever the hell that means).
I participated in a thing called "
Together We Dine" over a Zoom call this past week where police officers and people from various races and walks of life get together to discuss race, perceptions about race, etc, etc and the conversations were great and everyone I met was awesome, thoughtful and kind and some of their stories moved me to tears.
I hope more people can put down social media, preconceptions, grudges, etc and make an effort to get to know someone that thinks and perhaps looks different and be willing to listen, learn and strive for enlightening dialogue.
The country really needs this or we're going to spiral downward into chaos and I don't believe that will end well for anyone
