New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is the NFL's newest $100 million man.

And the impact of his reported five-year extension may be felt hundreds of miles away, at The Star in Frisco.

Thomas and the Saints on Wednesday reached an agreement on a five-year, $100 million deal that makes him the league's highest-paid receiver, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, raising the ceiling on what a receiver can make on the open market.

Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper, of course, is entering the final year of his contract scheduled to make slightly more than $13.9 million. His contract status, like that of quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott, has been major topic of discussion throughout the offseason and at training camp.

What does Thomas' new deal mean for Cooper and the Cowboys? It means that keeping the Prescott-Elliott-Cooper core intact, without compromising the team, just got tougher for Dallas.

But don't expect the Thomas news to be something Cooper is preoccupied with.

Cooper has been hesitant to discuss his contract negotiations in public. Part of his reluctance stems from a belief that all of this will work out. Besides, he'd rather focus on continuing to build his rapport with Prescott and the art of route running.

"I think the media thinks about it more than I," Cooper said after the Cowboys' first training camp practice Saturday. "I just think it's one of those things that's going to come naturally whether it happens in this offseason or not. It's not really that big of a deal to me, honestly."

But his deal, it seems, will be just that: big. [h=2]NFL's highest-paid WRs per year[/h]
