Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick to have plate inserted in left hand, could miss some time
By SportsDayDFW.com
Cowboys starting cornerback Orlando Scandrick could end up missing some time after fracturing his hand in Sunday's win over the Giants.
SportsDay's David Moore reports that Scandrick will have a plate inserted into his left hand. And while the cornerback hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game at Denver, Moore says his status is more likely for Week 3's contest with Arizona.
After Sunday's game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Scandrick's injury was a fractured hand and said it was possible he could play through it.
Scandrick was playing his first game as a team captain when he led with his shoulder on a second-quarter tackle and hurt his hand.
Scandrick pushed second-year Giants receiver Sterling Shepard out of bounds after a 12-yard completion on a wheel route from Eli Manning.
The veteran cornerback left the game for X-rays and did not return. Rookie CB Chidobe Awuzie, whom the Cowboys drafted out of Colorado in the second round this year, replaced Scandrick after he went down.
