If the Cowboys can maintain their current rate of arrests, Jason Garrett's "right kind of guy" mantra could become the new slogan at Lew Sterrett.

Add Damien Wilson's aggravated assault charges Wednesday to Nolan Carroll's DWI at the end of May, and the Cowboys are having a whale of a summer.

Of course, we don't know all the details of Wilson's situation in Frisco. According to the police report, he intentionally backed into a female tailgater, then brandished a rifle at a man.

If the charges hold up, Wilson, a key contributor at linebacker, could face serious penalties.

From the authorities, that is. Not the Cowboys.

Jerry Jones showed his hand long ago when it comes to this sort of thing.

Now, you might argue that the actual charges sound worse than what Wilson is alleged to have done. And that would be beside the point.
Let me ask you: Who thinks he can pull such a stunt and get away with it?

Answer: A Cowboy, that's who.

Just last week, I wrote about how we've come not only to expect these headlines from the Cowboys, we've come to accept it. It appears the players are aware of this.

Because if a sober man understands the responsibilities that supposedly come with being a Cowboy, as Garrett has said over and over, is he going to risk his employment over a parking space?

Sooner or later, Garrett is going to have to take a stand. Send a message.

Better yet, send someone to the asthma field.

Nobody gives a shit about the asthma field. The only thing that is going to make a difference is if we start cutting these idiots.

To me there's a big difference between a guy like Irving getting suspended for some obscure substance and what this idiot did. Players all around the league are taking shit to bulk up, get faster, stronger, etc., some get caught, some don't, I don't hold it against Irving at all.

As for Wilson, this is just the height of stupidity and carelessness, I'd cut him pending whatever happens with a potential trial.

Is it just me or does Dallas have a penchant for acquiring defensive bad boy players? I don't recall any instances in the recent past of offensive players crapping in their mess kit.

Wilson brandished a rifle, quelling an escalating situation. Shouldn't he be revered? Bearing Arms Matter.

The whole thing is frankly pretty stupid. It doesn't sound like anyone was actually harmed so it's not really as serious as the charges would make you think but at the same time it's just stupid. It's a fucking parking spot for gods sake. It does reek of a NFL player feeling like he can get away with anything.

Hell the people blocking the parking spot might have been complete and total assholes. There are lots of assholes in this world, unfortunately you can't deal with them the way Wilson did. And frankly someone like Wilson should be careful. He hasn't made that much money in the NFL yet and he isn't talented enough for teams to give multiple chances. Something like this could cost a player of his caliber an entire career. And I actually kind of like how Wilson played last year.

Yea he's fine as depth, maybe could develop into a competent spot starter like Hitchens but for the most part he's an inconsequential piece in the grand scheme. Making a point to the team would be more valuable to me if it looks like he's going to miss half a season or whatever the case may be.
