The suspensions aren't only going to hurt the team on the field, but also at the bank.

It's time for the Dallas Cowboys to pay up yet again.
After being fined in 2016 by the NFL stemming from the league's remittance policy, they'll be forced to swim in a pool of deja vu. Thus far, the Cowboys have three players preparing to sit due to suspension: Wide receiver Shaquelle Evans and defensive ends David Irving and Damontre Moore. Last year's penalty cost the Cowboys upwards of $500,000 for the suspensions on linebacker Rolando McClain and defensive ends Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence.
This year is shaping up to be no different.

According to ESPN reporter Todd Archer, the Cowboys would currently owe $91,000 to the NFL based upon the 2016 calculation -- which amounts to 25% of the base salary Evans, Irving and Moore are set to not make by being sidelined.
Should the team hit four or more suspensions, that penalty could mushroom into the maximum hit of $500,000, as the percentage increases to 33% of total base salary lost.
And with suspensions likely coming for cornerback Nolan Carroll (DWI) and linebacker Damien Wilson (assault with a deadly weapon), it's nearly a foregone conclusion Dallas will have to ante up and bring their total financial loss to $1M over the past two seasons.
Of course, the verdict on star running back Ezekiel Elliott is still out as well, adding to the probability that owner Jerry Jones will need to cut a larger check to the league's front office. The remittance policy was put in place to hold teams financially accountable for the actions of their players.
Whether it's actually working is really anyone's guess.
