Good, let him catch on with another team now. Rather than delaying the inevitable of being cut at cut downs.

It also frees up $5M in cap and some wiggle room at a congested position. We needed to free up reps for the likes of Wilson, Johnson and Guyton.

Not really. They weren't keeping him at his cap charge and he wanted to catch on with a new team sooner than later.

This is better for him and also the Cowboys. Once injuries start hitting, he will get an opportunity somewhere as a fourth or fifth guy.

His contract made this necessary. Pay cut or release are the only options. No team was going to trade for his contract.

Part of the very failed committee approach

Sucks that he got hurt so bad last year. Hopefully, he catches on with a different team.

Right, but right before camp kinda sucks. He's coming back from the injury and was hoping to show what he's got. Now he's gotta hope for someone else's injury to get a chance.

If they'd have cut him months or weeks ago he could have gotten in to camp with another team.

Seems shitty for a guy they likely never intended to keep.

To be clear, I agree that he should have been cut.

Maybe he got access to free team doctors and rehab staff by remaining with the team this long. And maybe now he's healthy enough to pass a physical and get a look on someone else's camp.

Versus before he'd have to pay for that care himself? Dunno.

Is he fully healed from that bad break ? That was some Joe Theismann level shit.

Hurns was slated to be the team's 11th largest cap hit this year, which really says something about how this team is structured to absorb the extensions of guys like Dak/Elliott/Cooper.
