Why does Jerry Jones have so much loyalty to his scouting department? He's not afraid to dump coaches, but scouts are untouchable. I don't think he's hired a new scout since 2008. They're 0-27 in the late rounds since 2009.

Who's the best player on this list?

2009

4 1 101 Stephen McGee Quarterback Texas A&M
4 10 110 Victor Butler Linebacker Oregon State
4 20 120 Brandon Williams Defensive End Texas Tech
5 7 153 DeAngelo Smith Cornerback Cincinnati
5 30 166 Michael Hamlin Safety Clemson
5 36 172 David Buehler Kicker USC
6 24 197 Stephen Hodge Safety TCU
6 35 208 John Phillips Tight End Virginia
7 18 227 Mike Mickens Cornerback Cincinnati
7 20 229 Manuel Johnson Wide Receiver Oklahoma

2010

4 28 126 Akwasi Owusu-Ansah Safety Indiana (PA)
6 10 179 Sam Young Offensive Tackle Notre Dame
6 27 196 Jamar Wall Cornerback Texas Tech
7 27 234 Sean Lissemore Defensive Tackle William & Mary

2011

4 13 110 David Arkin Guard Missouri State
5 12 143 Josh Thomas Cornerback Buffalo
6 11 176 Dwayne Harris Wide Receiver East Carolina
7 17 220 Shaun Chapas Fullback Georgia
7 49 252 Bill Nagy Center Wisconsin

2012

4 18 113 Kyle Wilber Linebacker Wake Forest
4 40 135 Matt Johnson Safety Eastern Washington
5 17 152 Danny Coale Wide Receiver Virginia Tech
6 16 186 James Hanna Tight End Oklahoma
7 15 222 Caleb McSurdy Linebacker Montana

2013

4 17 114 B. W. Webb Cornerback William & Mary
5 18 151 Joseph Randle Running Back Oklahoma State
6 17 185 DeVonte Holloman Linebacker South Carolina

Harris and Wilber are the only two that really stand out. Holloman might become something. The rest is shit.

That's not accurate. At all. Poor record, sure. But Lissemore, Dwayne Harris, Hanna were all solid contributors at any given time and Wilber and Holloman both showed flashes this year.

Yeah, I missed Hanna. If the would actually use him more he would be a good pick. Lissemore has been hurt a lot so hard to judge on him so far.

He was a decent starter in the 3-4. That's productive for a 7th round pick.

Considering every pick from the 2009 draft was shit, we have little to evaluate.

Didn't Josh Wilson go to Buffalo and play decent?

Those 5 all look more like JAGs than legitimate hits. I'd consider a hit to be an above average starter.

Harris is an above average returner..other than that I got nothing. John Phillips was decent for a little bit

Harris was basically a Pro Bowl ST'er this year, but yea, the vast majority of that is complete shit and the reason nobody is held accountable is because Jerry knows he's the one making decisions. The only reason he fires coaches is because of the ire and attention it draws from the public, nobody ever talks about some random Southwest area scout.

They love trying to draft for special teams on the final day of the draft instead of just looking for the best available players. Their propensity to limit the scope of players they even consider is ridiculously foolish too. We almost always only draft players who visited Valley Ranch. We also usually take at least one player from the "local schools" day. What's the odds that out of all the players in the entire country, one of these local guys is the best available?

Anyways, the great teams generally hit on their early picks and usually will find 1-2 guys late. We rarely find any quality in rds 4-7 and it's hit and miss alot of time with rds 1-3.
