He's a great salesman and a good leader for certain types of kids, and that's enough in college, but he's obviously not a great tactician or strategist of the game.
The sad thing is that we all knew this before he got into coaching.

I've hardly watched any of the bowl games. I even passed on watching most of the OU game. I only watched the first half because it felt like Venables and crew were treating it like a scrimmage.

Players and coaches don't seem to care, so it's hard for me to muster the energy to care.

I think part of the issue is this stupid "ring culture" that's currently running rampant in sports culture. Where measuring greatness has been reduced to simply counting championship rings.

I miss the days when teams were proud as hell to go into a bowl game vs a rival conference and walk out with an Outback Bowl trophy or some such. Everything wasn't centered around the national championship game. /Old Man Rant

Yeah it was always a blast traveling to go to a bowl game as an Iowa fan. I don't even recognize the bowl games anymore. And I used to watch them to see some awesome college prospect play. Now guys don't even play.

I think I'd take Hampton over Johnson but it's debatable.
Johnson has better cutting ability and looks quicker to me. I think he does a better job finding cutback lanes and sort of finding the hole.

Hampton is more of a battering ram. Down hill and its going to hurt when he plows into you. I like both guys but for bigger backs they are definitely different flavors.
