Technically that video clip doesn't actually say that at all. Maybe the guy just clipped the wrong thing.
I do agree with Carlson and what he is saying in the video. My opinion on laws against hate speech is the same as Carlson and it's the same as Kirk would have had. Which is the government has no place in infringing on people's freedom of speech. And it would be a scary world to live in where a statement you make could lead you to being placed in jail.
But to be clear that has nothing to do with an employer's right to fire an employee who says something hateful. They have every right to do that.

Exactly. You have the right to free speech but your employer is not obligated to suffer the consequences of what you say. In this video, they discuss the Nextar angle. I’m hoping the market continues to correct this shit.

I don't entirely disagree with this. I don't really like the idea of an employer firing an employee because they were wearing a MEGA hat in a picture at their house for example. Or an employee attending a march for Woman's rights as the flip side example. What does free speech really matter if you're terrified that whatever you say will get you fired, or you business shut down or whatever.
But the truth is I own my own law firm. I understand that things I put out in the public world could potentially come back to bite my business and livelihood in the ass, so I don't do them. No different than if I wanted to run for judge every statement I have made or thing I've done could be used to show I'm not a fit for the position.

If they had called Kirk all the usual bad names (racist, fascist, transphobe), nothing would have happened to them. Lots of people on the Right said mean things about McCain after he died. But you can't celebrate murders or vandalize memorials.
