I agree no one should be be celebrating what happened yesterday.

But why didn't this board have the same energy a few years ago when Trump Jr posted memes mocking Pelosi's husband being attacked?

If it were just some random retards, sure. Not that big a deal. But we’re seeing this shit from politicians and educators. People with strong influence on the direction of this country.

Exactly.

Yeah, that was bad but he survived. I don't remember anyone cheering because an 80 year old man got hit in the head with a hammer.

There was a decent amount of mocking and doubting that it really happened. Both on social media and on this board.

You guys are way to quick to believe Twitter bullshit because it is something you want to believe.
You're way too quick to take it personally when we criticize the left when it isn't you we're talking about.

Little difference between that kook doing whatever happened with Pelosi's old man and a political assassination.

If Paul Pelsoi had been gunned down, nobody would be happy about it.

All I'm saying is don't expect one side to act cordial and express empathy if you're not willing to do the same.

And by "you" I mean "you" in general.

I understand but you didn't see educators, news anchors, and politicians saying, "He got what he deserved."

Yeah that's over the top.

Personally, I didn't know the guy. I was vaguely familiar with his name but couldn't pick him out of a three man police lineup. So I was neutral on it because you tend to become numb to gun violence when you see it on a daily basis in this country.

I think it’s fair to say both sides need to tone it down but this comparison is pretty disingenuous.

Trump was shot and Kirk was murdered.

This is, in terms of National consciousness, on par with Barack Obama being shot and, I dunno, probably AOC being killed on national TV. The left doesn’t have a non-elected influencer comparison anywhere near Kirk’s level.

Agreed.

They talked about toning things down after Trump's assassination attempt but that obviously didn't last long. You have the two shootings that you mentioned plus the Minnesota politician and her husband being killed a few months ago. I wonder if there's every been a time in American history where we've had this many politically motivated attacks in such a short window.

Off topic but this post hit on one of my pet peeves.

It bugs me when I see tweets where people intentionally remove letters or use special characters from words like assassination, rape, sexual assault, etc. because they don't want to trigger someone who may have dealt with those issues.''

The way I see it Twitter and these other sites have filters that let you mute posts with certain words. Victims dealing with those issues should be using the content filters. Which leads to my second point. Assuming they are using the filters, people typing something like "r@pe" instead of "rape" circumvent the filters and the content ends up crossing the timeline of the person they're trying to protect.

Yeah I am done with the dissection of how exactly the bullet hit his neck or was it ricocheted from the vest. At least they have moved on from his ring “switching fingers”.

I do think, and I don’t want to say this is “Trump’s fault,” but one of the things I don’t like about him is that he has no ability to be unifying.

Sometimes you need a fighter but a guy like Reagan could fight while also winning some folks over with charm. Trump has no charm, he sometimes just doubles down on viciousness at the wrong times.

There are areas of the country today that needs that fight. Some on the left need to be fought.

But there are times that he needs to tone down the rhetoric and he doesn’t have that ability.

Coming right out and saying “the left did this…” before they even have a shooter is probably not the even tone we need. Yes the left is the side that needs to calm their voters down more than the right does, but, sometimes pointing that out without proof isn’t helpful either.

Any kind of high powered rifle, now reported to be a 30.06….Charlie was dead before he hit the ground. That’s really about all that needs to be said.

Oh no. I got the dreaded dur from Unk.

If you think a 200 yard shot is hard to make I question your experience with a rifle. ESPECIALLY when the shot is taken from the prone supported position with ample time to aim. Any 15 year old kid out deer hunting can make that shot.

And for those talking about it being a head/neck shot, how do you know that was where he was aiming? Maybe they were aiming center mass and... missed. Maybe they jerked on the trigger causing their aiming point to rise. And they were still lucky enough to catch the neck? By all accounts, impact was on the right side of the neck. (Kirk's left) Not center mass. So another inch or so to the right, and they would have completely missed.

And if this shot was taken by a professional, the target area would either be center mass of the chest, with a double tap. Or the T-zone. Not the neck. That aiming point is just not practical.

30.06? Yeah, not much chance being hit with that.

I still remember when I was young. My dad (average at best with guns :lol), was shooting his off the back porch. That fuckin thing kicked back and split him above his eye. He hit the tree he was aiming at tho. About split it in half vertically.
