I think it's funny how Netflix is bragging about how they had millions of streams and yet of all those millions of viewers, I'm guessing that maybe 10% or less of them actually got to watch it uninterrupted.
Totally agree.I think it's funny how Netflix is bragging about how they had millions of streams and yet of all those millions of viewers, I'm guessing that maybe 10% or less of them actually got to watch it uninterrupted.
That's a prime example of why I've always said that I don't believe that streaming should ever be the primary medium for broadcasting live sporting events. It should be an alternative, but not the only medium for broadcasting because it's too unreliable.
My guess is that they underestimated the demand.Totally agree.
What I don't get is, how does this happen with a company like Netflix? This isn't some startup. And isn't it just a matter of server space and bandwidth? They have the money to do that, so did they genuinely underestimate the demand or were they just cheap?
They are gonna find out the hard way come Christmas. My guess is that they underestimated the demand.
Also, this wasn't the first time Netflix had significant buffering issues during the streaming of a live event.I think it's funny how Netflix is bragging about how they had millions of streams and yet of all those millions of viewers, I'm guessing that maybe 10% or less of them actually got to watch it uninterrupted.

To be fair, I don’t think any of them had 60M streams going out at the same time, either. Also, this wasn't the first time Netflix had significant buffering issues during the streaming of a live event.
I wonder why they seem to always have issues but other services like Amazon, Paramount, and Peacock seem to be able to stream live games and events without all the bugs.
That's a valid point for the Paul/Tyson fight.....but like I said, Netflix has had issues in the past with live events. To be fair, I don’t think any of them had 60M streams going out at the same time, either.
