Exactly. There's a difference between a story that thematically has Christmas intertwined in the plot versus a story that coincidentally has Christmas in the background.

If you take Christmas out of the story and the story doesn't really change at all, like Diehard, then it's not a Christmas movie.

For example, if you set, say, Christmas Vacation (or Home Alone, or A Christmas Story, or Elf, etc ) in July, it's a completely different movie. Diehard doesn't really change at all. Because Diehard isn't a Christmas movie.
