If we let Murray go and our plan is to replace him with Peterson and a 2nd-5th rounder to split time/groom, I'm good with that. I think Peterson has another 1-2 great seasons in him, especially behind this line.
That's exactly where I'm at. Generally it's a terrible idea to invest in an aging workhorse RB, obviously, but a couple years of Peterson if the money is reasonable because teams are afraid to touch him...
Murray is a hell of an all-around RB. Blocks very well, catches the ball well, can really run, etc. His contract is going to be more than a RB is worth though, IMO. Too much guaranteed money over too many years for a guy that has missed multiple games every year of his career so far.
The window with Romo and to a lesser degree Witten is only a couple more years. Peterson is a special athlete. The workload, wear and tear, injuries, etc. will cost him but I agree that behind an excellent line he can still be a weapon for a couple more years. Definitely if limited to 18 touches a game or so.
Depends on the situation (suspended?) and the contract for sure but I'd roll the dice if those things line up right. The off the field stuff is definitely disturbing, but the idea of him running behind this OL is intriguing.
