Not a fan of taking a corner in the first, though.
I have no problem with taking a corner in the first. As long as the value matches where we take them, I'm good. God knows we could sure use some help back there.

Round 1 - Pick 15

player headshot
Sonny Styles
LB
Ohio State • Sr • 6'5" / 243 lbs
Projected Team
Dallas
PROSPECT RNK
30th
POSITION RNK
4th
Sonny Styles may get overlooked because of Arvell Reese's play, but Styles is playing as well as any other defender in the country. He has good size and could finally quench Dallas' thirst for impactful play at the linebacker position.

Round 1 - Pick 28

Avieon Terrell
CB
Clemson • Jr • 5'11" / 180 lbs
Projected Team
Dallas
PROSPECT RNK
19th
POSITION RNK
2nd
Dallas has invested a lot of resources into the game's most volatile position, and it has not paid off for them. The selection of Aveion Terrell allows the Cowboys to get younger and more inexpensive. Moving on from Trevon Diggs would save nearly $13 million towards the salary cap next season. The team addressed its need at linebacker earlier in the round.

We're projected to take the 30th ranked prospect at 15?

I don't like it around the top 5 or so, but beyond that it's fine.

I just want a defensive coordinator that will take advantage of a skilled corner. You have that and I have zero issues with a first round corner. But if I'm playing a guy 10 yards off the ball in zone, I'm not taking one in the first.

Maybe we can sign Nashon Wright in FA? :lol

If you have shitty schemes/coaches then it doesn't matter who you take or what position they play. Your defense will still suck. See: Parsons, Micah.

So again, I have no problem with taking a corner high if the value is there. We need the youth/talent infusion there.

I agree.

But I also think there are schemes that take advantage of a really talented corner. And other schemes that don't really need that type of talent. I wouldn't use a first on a corner that I predominantly plan to play in zone. Just not worth it in my opinion.

I think you can get 4.5-4.6 speed zone corners later in the draft. But if you want a guy who can play man and turn and run with the fastest and best receivers in the NFL? Very few guys have the skills to do that.

I wouldn't draft based on Eberflus being DC. Even if he's back next year I doubt he'll be here much longer after that

I wouldn't either. But if you have so little faith in your defensive coordinator that you don't want to draft for his garbage scheme, then why bring him back at all? You already know the guy sucks, which is why you're not trying to find the right guys for the scheme.

I love watching the draft. But I hate how everything has become about the presentation on TV amd not at all about the actual drafting of players. Now they are going to try and start rushing everything to fit it into this dumbass schedule they decided to get more views.
I don’t like it because the Draft already fucked my drinking time, and shrinking the first round fucks it even more.
