And I don't think the players are good enough. I was saying several times before the season started that I thought there were a lot of personnel problems on defense.

But this goes beyond the players. They aren't THIS bad.

While Eberflus and the defense get all the headlines, if we had a 2nd/3rd year HC I'd say that performance last night was bad enough to put them on the hot seat.

Several soft fumbles, pre-snap penalties, sloppy penalties (Ferguson hold), several drops, lack of focus/discipline, the idiotic decision to go for it on 4th and 4 on the opening drive, and all of that at home coming off a loss against a 2 win team.

Schottenheimer very well may just be a turd HC like we all thought when the rumors first started coming out that he was the choice.

I think it's a combination of Eberflus' scheme becoming stale, sometimes coaches eventually get to a point where their creativity runs out and they aren't able to keep adjusting/tweaking what they do and they get passed by.

That and I'm guessing the players just don't like him or he's not able to relate well enough to get them to run through a brick wall. Quinn didn't have an amazing scheme but he really related to the players and got them to buy in with his Jordan's and all that. Zimmer didn't have that kind of personality but he was a hard ass with a creative scheme who knew how to put guys in positions to maximize what they could do.

You can tell just from the PC's that Eberflus has absolutely no swag whatsoever, and I'm guessing he's really married to his simplistic bullshit scheme ("attack front"), you put those together and this is what you get I guess.
