Couple of interesting nuggets based on the snap counts last night:

-Carson played every single snap, and after him/Bland/Wilson/Hooker the next highest snaps played from a DB was Markquese Bell, with Steward and Revel coming in closely behind that. I guess Carson is a locked in starter now.
-The LB snaps were relatively even between Wilson, Overshown, Murray and James, but Wilson played the most followed by Overshown. I assume the split will only become larger towards Wilson/Overshown as the weeks go on.
-Fowler played only 11 snaps and Williams played less snaps than Ezeiruaku, Clowney and Houston, although he was only a few behind Clowney/Houston.
-The 3 DT's all played more snaps than any individual DE.

We'll see how things go but it'll be interesting to monitor the playing time of guys like Williams and Fowler, who might end up getting phased out, as well as Murray even though he played well yesterday.

The 5th DB situation should be fascinating as well, although if Revel can stay healthy and improve I'm sure he's the guy who will end up playing most of those snaps.

Thing is the Eagles are built to make the edge position a revolving door. It’s smart (fuck). Better to lease than buy in that market

Their foundation and long term cap dollars are in the middle

I don't think it's smart, I think it holds them back. They're just willing to rectify it when they realize it's a problem.

That defense would be a nightmare if they had a top tier pass rusher despite their mediocre back end.

He has been a suprise the last couple weeks. He hasn't faced a great receiver yet but so far it's been good. Our other corners have struggled even with scrubs.

Even if he's just an average CB3 I think that's a huge win for the long term prospects of the defense given how the secondary has looked most of the year.
No doubt it was great to have Hooker & Wilson back, but their efforts were compounded by the dline being dominant all night.

Would be great to see similar results in this next 3 game stretch.

I think the pressure up front allows the back end to play with more confidence. It definitely did for Hooker and Bland, Wilson still looks tentative to me. But ultimately they are better than trotting undrafted rookie nobodies out there.

I don't think the Williams performance can be emphasized enough.

5 QB hits, a career high, and 1.5 sacks, more than he had in 8 games or whatever with the Jets over the first half of the year. Parsons has only had 5+ QB hits five times in his career, Chris Jones only four times in basically a decade, and this guy does it in his very first game here.

And in only 33 snaps.

The storyline for him this year was that his run defense took a leap, I believe PFF had him as the top ranked DT vs. the run (for what that's worth), while his pass rush might have dropped a bit compared to years past.

In reality I think you were just seeing the result of him playing on a team that was constantly down, and usually big, and playing offenses that could pick and choose when they would pass without pressing and opening up clear pass rushing opportunities. He probably looked dominant vs. the run because that's what he was seeing the most of, without many ideal pass rush chances given the Jets have been down 2+ scores for probably about half the season.

So if we're getting one of the best run-stuffing DT's in the league, plus that sort of a pass rusher, we could be looking at a Chris Jones-level player in his prime for the next 2-3 years.
If he plays games vs Raiders-level competition, he's going to be all-world. Want to see him vs the Eagles' OL, which represents the NFL high standard at the moment.

There's only two viable scenarios for me, pay him what he wants or franchise him and hunt a 1st rounder in a deal, or franchise him to buy a little time to pay him I guess.

But there's no world where he should be walking for the 100th pick in the 2027 draft.
Your standards are far too high, my friend.

This is the Joneses we're talking about

They tried to get Parsons...

Sure, although everybody plays shit OL's like that every year and the fact that Parsons has only had 5+ hits five times in five years, and Jones four times in about 10, is notable when talking about a guy who people thought his pass rush may be declining slightly.
