Then why are you here? To just piss in the cheerios of the guys still here? Some of you seem to enjoy that shit.
I don't piss in anyone's Cheerios.

In fact, I haven't complained a whole lot about what the Cowboys are and have been in recent years as I just enjoyed it for what it was and just expected the other shoe to drop.

But this year is different. We got rid of a pretty good coach who put together the most respectable football operation we've had here in a long time and replaced him with a guy with no HC experience all while losing our franchise player and having Jerry throw in our faces how he's basically not changing ever.

So yeah, you'll have to excuse me if that doesn't make me want to get my fucking pom-poms out.

A lot of good young pass rushers, some strong CB talent (proved tonight), solid safeties, and a piecemeal LB crew with a couple of good young players and its best playmaker banged up at the moment. Yes, we could use an impact player like Diggs and Bland have been in the past.

RB its a stupid weakness— I still can’t believe it. But we have draft choices and cap space to fix those concerns while we try some young talent to build depth.
We have a handful of six sack guys. Not impressed. They are good rotation pieces. Need the Charles Haley.

Ok, Jerry.

You enjoy that hanging around the rim.
Dunno what you mean. You’re the one acting like all we do is hang with Philly when we play them onl to get beat in the end when the opposite is true. I was merely pointing that out.

I agree with that, but at the same time I wonder how many opportunities were legitimately there that Dak simply didn't take advantage of?

That's why a guy like Dez couldn't shine with him because Dak just doesn't take enough smart chances with his receivers.

And that makes no sense to me how he'll continue to force the ball to a fourth receiver or average TE, but he doesn't take chances in 1 on 1's with guys who truly have a chance to make a play on the ball.

Pickens is similar to Dez in that they are great at attacking the ball in the air so sometimes you got to throw it up there and give them a shot to do their thing even if there's not a lot of separation between they and the DB.

So yeah, I'm guessing if you watch the All-22, you're gonna find some opportunities missed to get Pickens the ball.
Eagles adjusted in the 2nd half for sure. Amped up the pressure. They still wouldn't have stopped us if CeeDee catches the ball. You can whine about Dak all day long. If CeeDee catches the ball we literally score on every drive so Dak must've done something right.

They look good enough to win 10 games, which is an improvement over last year (if you call winning enough to take yourself out of the running to get difference makers in a year you have zero chance to make noise in the playoffs “an improvement”).

Javonte is far better than Rico Dowdle for example.

But he’d be better in a platoon. Maybe Blue can surprise. Sanders isn’t it.

Too much dead weight.

And I’m sorry to say, you can tell with a team sometimes right away. It’s the case with this one. They are still stale. The coaching change and bringing in Pickens will work only a little bit. It’s not transforming them into a contender.
One thing we have all learned is you learn nothing from the first week of the season. Honestly I could be totally wrong. You could be totally wrong. We will just have to see.

100% Jerry sucks. We agree.

But I'm willing to give Schottenheimer and the staff he put together a chance. No forced Jerry hires. Let's see how that plays out.

I'd be willing to bet we have someone with more than 6 sacks this season. And honestly, EZ is a badass pass rusher. He was a rookie in his first game against the best Oline in football, you'll have to give him a little more leash than that.

The 90’s were special, and we don’t need to become that team.

We need a couple of good playmakers is mostly it, and we also need to be able to mix in some twists like Fangio dialed up.

I think as new players like Clark and Ez get more PT, our coaches will dial up the schemes that fit them best.

Going 10-7 isn’t impressive to me, I just have higher standards I guess. That’s no different than 7-10 to me anymore.

It’s Championship game or bust.

The personnel changes told you this team wasn’t serious about getting over the hump. What they put on film tonite confirms it. That’s all.

It’s depressing.

Watching the mediocre, choke and come up short result of mediocre, penny pinching, ignorant roster building.

There’s no hope. The only thing tonite gives me ”hope” for is that they can win 10 or 11 games. It also firmly established in my mind after just 60 minutes that this team doesn’t have the horses to have even the slightest chance to be better than an early playoff out.

The Eagles played like they were sleepwalking, had their best defender kicked out after 1 play, their QB is lousy, they gave us chance after chance, and we still couldn’t close the deal. Mediocre talent. Mediocre results.

Those guys won't even be happy about it. Eternally miserable.
Not even remotely close to true.

Every single guy on this board would be absolutely over the moon if we won a Super Bowl.

And we're all here because despite knowing that the odds were extremely unlikely of that happening with Jerry Jones running the team the way that he does, we found a way to keep sweeping things under the rug enough to remain interested in the team and hope for an unforseen miracle to occur.

But with each passing year, your tolerance for this foolishness dwindles.

And we're coming off one of our worst off-seasons in a long time.

Expecting ANY Cowboys fan to be positive or optimistic right now is extremely unrealistic.

You wanna blindly keep cheering for the team? Have at it.

But don't act like those who can't are being unreasonably pessimistic either, because history is on our side, not yours.

I don't think anybody here seriously thinks this team is competing for a Super Bowl so I'm not sure what point you and smitty are trying to make.

The team played well tonight overall, they'll probably win somewhere between 9-11 games, they also probably won't do much in the playoffs if they make it, but where is all this over the top anger coming from after a pretty well played opener where most thought they'd lose by 2 TD's?

The two of you are basically just getting mad at the past.

You need to be special to win a Super Bowl.
Special yes, but Charles was a HOFer added to an already seriously loaded team. Those days are gone. The Eagles did it with a great DT and a bunch of ‘six sack’ FA’s.

We needed a guy like the Steelers got in Harmon, and yeah a decent FA would be nice.

We’re closer than you suspect, and we have six picks in the top two rounds of the next two drafts— that’s a lot of potential to add to a team that’s already closer than people credit.

Maybe not Charles Haley— but then again nobody is (except maybe Parsons, but you can only sign so many guys).

Meh, this particular game isn't the one to go all gloom and doom on. I mean, this was the alleged defending champs at their place in front of a super fired up crowd. I'm sure we'll lay an egg or two this year and lose to bad teams... That'll be the time to talk about how much we suck.

Best thing from this game IMO was Dak played very well. Not perfect, no -- he's not Mahomes or Allen. But if he plays that well we'll be a pretty good team. If he'd played like he did last year early, that's when we'd be totally screwed going forward.

We also held Barkley to 60 yards. Who had that going into tonight?

Now if we could just fire Miles Sanders into the sun and bench Tolbert.

30 years without a championship game appearance and a really shitty fucking offseason.

That's where all the angst is coming from.

This being "pretty good" just isn't cutting it anymore, even if just as a source of occasional entertainment.
