Yeah, that whole offseason felt like a tank job. The team made almost no effort. It really felt like the team was done with McCarthy and just wasn't willing to let him go before his contract was up. Which was just silly.
Then again, you see nobody ran and hired him as a HC again. There is probably a reason for that.

I wouldn't say I agree that McCarthy needed to move on.

Maybe if we had given him George Pickens and a RB it wouldn't have been so bad.
Well I don't trust your coaching judgement so there.

Teams hate older retread coaches for whatever reason.
Yeah, that's a ton of it. The young guy hasn't failed yet, so everyone thinks he's a better deal.

Then next year when people realize half of them are Brandon Staley or Arthur Smith, they'll go for the proven vet.
