We have a DT whisperer, if it's not happening here under Whitecotton it probably won't happen anywhere.
Yeah I doubt it will happen here no matter who the coach is. The only way I think things with Mazi change are if he is moved to a new team. Either cut or traded for peanuts and the realization that his NFL career may be coming to an end soon sort of lights a fire under his ass. That happens some times for players. I think Winfrey is sort of that way, he knows Dallas is sort of his last chance and I think he has legit put the work in since coming here.

I think Mazi gives shitty effort in practice and it rolls over into games. No idea what will change that effort issue for him but it won't be in Dallas. And my guess is the only chance of that changing is the realization that his career may be over before it started.

Dak was pushing the fing football. Had 87 and 88 actually caught it he might have hit 300 passing. Even Pickens on his PI draw could have caught that ball.

He definitely played better than his numbers say. I was impressed.

So with Dallas exclusively in zone, why isn't anyone looking back to see if the QB is breaking to run the ball?
Yeah, really. I think that's why we assumed from the TV coverage we were in man. I guess they were told to hang back and stay with the receiver until they were sure he was already past the LOS.

Why not?

I don't think he has a whole lot of pass rush juice left but I'm fairly certain he can still set the edge comfortably, while providing a bit of complementary pass rush with his power to constrict the pocket.
Yeah, I think he's still got enough in the tank to be a solid rotational piece and I think he's definitely worth kicking the tires on.

Yeah the only difficult thing is I feel like we have a lot of young, rotational DEs. So adding Clowney doesn't feel like it adds much.

Is he the type of character you want though? Not that he's some terrible guy, but he's an all-time underachiever and has been on about 15 teams now.

I dunno, I'd be pretty nonplussed at this.

Most of them aren't great against the run and Clowney provides a physical edge-setting presence. I think Kneeland is very legit vs. the run, and Williams is seemingly fine, but Fowler, Ezeiruaku and Houston are all relatively undersized and better rushing the passer.

So from that perspective I get it.
