Rewarding guys they deem as leaders who want to be here. Its an attempt to change the contract culture in Dallas. I actually agree with the strategy we are trying. Although maybe save some money to actually bring in someone. You don't just have to use the Ploicks to replace Parsons. You can use the extra money to sign outside free agents. But we won't do that.
Yea, if they go out and sign a legitimate FA at a position of need next year (might not be edge rusher, could be RB, safety, etc.), I think you definitely have to give them some props.

But I'd be shocked if it happened.

I'd be shocked if that happens as well. But you can't brag about saving the 47 mil on Parsons's and then just use the money to extend guys like Hunter. The whole point about bragging that you can get 4 starters for that kind of money (Jerry's words not mine) is that you actually add 4 starters with the money. But I'd be shocked if that actually happened.

And just to be clear, you're not getting 4 high end starters for that money. You might get 4 average to below average starters for that money. But you can potentially get 2-3 high end starters.

They'll point to how they extended Bland, Tyler Smith, Aubrey, Pickens and Sam Williams (lol) and call it a win.

Realistically I'm not sure how many of them would've had to walk if they hadn't extended Parsons, but it sure as shit wasn't going to be all of them.

Bland and Tyler were getting extended.

I'm unsure on Pickens. He still may price himself out of our price range if he has a great year. But they won't extend him now. So what happens if he posts 1200+ yards. He is going to want #1 receiver money. And I can't blame the guy, this is his chance to cash in. Given his history there might not be another big contract for him down the road. Now if he posts a 900 yard type season this year, I guess there is a good chance we can pay him and keep him.

Aubrey is awesome but kickers are just sort of that, kickers. We picked him out of nowhere. We pick them all out of nowhere. And Sam Williams who the hell is extending that guy unless he has a big year. And maybe he will have a big year. I still don't know if I'd trust him going forward. He is exactly the type of DE I could see having a contract year and then falling off a cliff because he got paid.

Maybe Leupke is the heir apparent to the special teams guy that they always bring back every year?

Would this be the first time we've gotten a 1st rounder done before the end of their 4th season that wasn't a holdout (Elliott)?
Tyron signed the summer leading up to his 4th season, didn't he?

Kinda ancient history as far as NFL goes though.

Does it count as a pressure if the QB holds the ball way too long? Honest question because Hurts is terrible about that.

According to Grok it does.

Does It Account for Quarterback Ball-Holding Time?

Yes, the 33rd Team’s analyses, through their reliance on PFF and other advanced metrics, implicitly account for when a quarterback holds the ball too long, as this is a significant factor in pressure generation:
