Dowdle is close to the perfect type of guy to pair with a younger, more talented back. He's capable in pass protection, decent as a receiver, and of course as a runner, although he isn't good enough to actually keep a younger guy on the bench for long stretches.

If we spend a 1st/2nd on a RB you don't want to overuse them early on, especially if it's Jeanty, and it'd be ideal to pair them with a vet who can do a little bit of everything and reduce wear and tear.

That's only worth so much, and I feel like it should be somewhere around 4/year, but there is definitely value in it.

You guys are just scared that if they resign Dowdle that they'll ignore RB completely.

Everyone always gets sticker shock these days. He will make bank in free agency. So I'm sure to keep him he will also make bank. That's what happens when you wait until right before free agency to negotiate.

The problem isn't what they pay it's that they won't offset the costs by pushing it into the future and maintaining the ability to build a roster.

Steele was much better the second half or so of last season, too.

But still, it makes Stephen sound like such a football rube to ever say such and such new coach is going to come in and completely turn a player around. Come on, man!
