Sorry, pass. I know the argument is that they probably won't use that money in FA but I have to hope they'll change strategies soon. If they keep giving out deals like this, they never will.

Yeah I mean if I got to control the offseason I'd probably let him walk to try to sign 2 free agent DTs. Not the after the draft kind, the kind you see signed in the first couple of weeks of free agency. And then I try to draft a guy who can be a stud high impact DT.

The way the Cowboys do free agency, I might give him 20 mil per, but on a 5 year deal where I can keep his cap hit below 10 for the first couple years.

If only Osa was 20 lbs heavier.....we're already 25% retarded on the DL with a 240 lb DE.

This is the culture we’ve built .. all of our players hold the leverage against our leadership… the inmates run the asylum here…we have been overpaying to retain talent and these fuckin guys know it and use it to their advantage..exhibit A..we are already paying a choke artist gimp like he’s gods gift to the position….not once but twice

I agree. We always complain about how they overvalue their own talent. This would be another example of that, IMO.

He's a nice player but there are probably adequate replacements for him out there at a cheaper price. It just requires them to get off their asses and shop for free agents for a change.

And that’s the exact problem right there …they don’t want to get off their asses and shop for free agents… it’s much easier to just pay for what’s in house to do all that extra work …. These are the same folks that door dash and uber eats and shop from home …. Rich, lazy and entitled .

If it were up to me I'd probably let Osa go (assuming he's asking for roughly 20/year) and then spread that over 2-3 guys like Dayo Odeyingbo, BJ Hill and EJ Speed.

But we all know damn good and well they would never go after FA's who cost actual money, so in that case I'm fine with them just overpaying for Osa and going from there.

There are 4 main ways to handle situations like this, 2 good and 2 bad.

1. Pay the player, back load the contract, and use the up front savings to pay other players and build the team.

2. Let the player walk, and use the money you saved to pay for a couple other solid but less expensive players to fill the position adequately.

And now the bad.

3. Pay the player with a bad contract where money is used as a crutch to not spend money elsewhere because you are absorbing it up front.

4. Let the player walk, collect the precious comp pick, and pocket the savings while blaming your lack of spending on a cap that you refuse to use to your advantage as all the successful teams do.

I "wonder" which path we'll take?

If they let Osa go and re-invest the money elsewhere while drafting a DT in the first or second, that's a very reasonable path.

If they let him walk while their asshole puckers and they do their normal horse shit in FA, and think that they can just replace Osa with Nolen, that's a big fucking problem.
