It's a Pickens like situation (Which maybe has changed a little) where you deal a third and hope to get a third back on the back end as a comp pick. Anything more than that to me is too much. And you certainly won't be resigning both him and Pickens.

Then why trade at all for a guy and pay more money this season? If the seats are full regardless and Jerry doesn't give a shit what fans think. Then Jerry has no reason to make any trade. Well unless you think Jerry truly cares about winning more than money.

But I disagree. I think Jerry cares the most about what people think of him. Its the ego and why Jimmy didn't win another Superbowl here. Jerry wants people to think he is brilliant.

He trades because he thinks he is making the moves to put us over the top. It wont matter with the fans as we have seen with the Micah trade. He was still being asked for autographs at training camp and the stands are full. The merch is selling. We are driving the ratings. That justifies it for him and feeds the ego.

So yeah. He could use those 2 firsts and the fans will grumble but a week later will be back for more.

Trading for Simmons would be interesting, he's the caliber of player I'd want to be looking at in terms of age and quality, and I think there's space for all 3 in terms of him, Clark and Osa.

It would be a foundational change, the kind this team has needed since forever. Clark is good, but this guy (if healthy) can be built around.

The contract would be expensive but with 0 SB overhead would give us a ton of flexibility like Clark's.

It might be what we need to set everyone else free.

Thing is, it will take a 1st round pick and change to get him.

Simmons is the one player who I understand is untouchable on their roster.

And frankly, he might be like the only talented player on that whole shitshow of a squad. It went bad fast.
