Yeah, one common theme (from enough different people that it's probably true) does seem to be that there's more youthful energy than in a long time. Which makes sense because most of our coaches have been older except for Garrett, and he was a stuffy 70-year old bitch at heart. Definitely seems like Schotty is trying the Pete Carroll school of thinking.

Not that that's the sole answer -- I'm sure Gus Bradley tried that was in Jacksonville and it didn't work.

Another note, apparently Irvin is a convert now after being so critical before. Not a surprise as we know what a homer Mike is. But he did talk on his podcast about someone getting chewed out for screwing up, so maybe it's not all fun and games.
His dad was one of the toughest coaches ever and you know that has to be his main inspiration.

He might not be able to pull it off the same way but I'd be shocked if he was just prancing around and smacking asses after wanting to emulate his father his entire life.

I actually think he could make sense as a "walkaround" type coach given how long he's been around and the types of coaches he's worked under (plus his dad), the X's and O's of the offense are probably a bigger concern to me, although my hope is that Adams will have a big impact on that piece of it.

Yeah, these fucking guys and some of their retarded evaluations. Did any respectable evaluator have this guy as a second rounder? FFS, if they did, let me know so I don't waste time reading them.
Panic drafting. Missed out on Kincaid and snap-drafted someone they thought could be one of Jerry’s Last Mohicans at what was supposedly one of the deepest positions in that draft.

I think Schotty has been a breath of fresh air. I just wonder how long that will last once this team faces some adversity. Suddenly the ping pong table isn't a good thing, it's a distraction. We have seen this before. The players love everything right now. But a lot of what he is doing will become a point of problem if things don't go well.

I reminds me of the Wade Phillips vibes. Everyone is family, it's important to have fun, etc

Not my favorite type of coach honestly.

Is this what being a fan is now? Swooning over OTA pics?

What would Turd have fetched? A late round pick?
You mean the guy everyone was creaming about like 12 months ago?

I'm sure he could have fetched an intriguing young OL.

Not like a first rounder, but there are tons of good developmental OLs selected in the middle rounds. You probably could have gotten an interesting third round-ish caliber young OL.

Yeah I remember there being a big fit over players playing dominos in the locker room and all that stuff. Bunch of distractions.

Made me think of the ping pong table and the shooting hoops.

But there can be a balance. You can be both hard on players but foster a strong relationship with them. That's what we hope for. Get the players to like you but also ask them to run through a brick wall for you. Dave Campo, Wade Phillips, they wanted to be liked and have these fun relationships with the players but they never really garnered the other part of that. They were just goofballs.

12 months is a long time. He had a down year and was injured. Do you think his value at the end of last year was the same as the end of the year before? Would you have been upset if you’d have been a fan of the team that traded a young 3rd roundish caliber Olineman for him?

I also loved Warren and had him ranked higher than Booker, but they clearly had a plan in place to trade for Pickens and knowing that after the fact made burning a top 15 pick on Warren less appealing.

So you are saying a third? Like we just gave up for Pickens?

Dick Vermeil, Mike Tomlin, Andy Reid, Pete Carrol. All been called a players coach at one time or another.
Especially Reid.

High EQ is important for the yutes.
