He is the one guy I knew the least about. He showed out a couple of times I watched Jordan Phillips.
He's raw but has some explosiveness to go with pretty good size and length. I think he's a developmental shot in the dark on traits, he was a highly ranked recruit who just kind of stayed raw, although if he went to a better football program with better coaches he may have developed and gone higher thanks to his size/athleticism.
I mean if we keep 5 DT's he makes the most sense to keep as the fifth guy. If we keep 4 he doesn't make the roster. The problem is we have so many DE's I'm not sure we would keep 5 DTs as well. He's raw but has some explosiveness to go with pretty good size and length. If I had to guess he's probably a PS guy as a rookie who hopefully develops into a rotational guy by year 2, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if he made the team and surprised once he got some decent coaching.
He has some legit upfield explosiveness for his size, if our coaches can do a good job with him we might have something.
My guess is practice squad with him. He is the perfect practice squad type of player but there is always the possibility that some other NFL team snatches him up in that process. I'm not opposed to 5 DT's and keeping the fifth guy around as the developmental DT. He seems like a good fit if we do that. But that gets difficult with roster numbers, especially when you have to assume we will keep 6 DEs. Theoretically you could go one less DE since we have a DT who is also a DE. But Fowler, Parsons, Ez, Kneeland, Sam and Turner is 6 DEs. Personally I may cut Turner and roll with 5 DE's and 5 DT's but my guess is the Cowboys will keep Turner around as sort of a run defense end.He has some legit upfield explosiveness for his size, if our coaches can do a good job with him we might have something.
But it'll probably take a year or two.
From what I saw of Turner last year he looked like shit to me, so if he underwhelms during TC/preseason I'd much rather keep a rookie who could theoretically develop as opposed to a 5th year guy who looked like shit last year and wouldn't have improved much going into his 5th year (in this scenario). My guess is practice squad with him. Yeah, we just seems to hold on to these high pick busts even from other teams.
