I agree with pretty much all of this, Mazi looks like our 5th-6th best DT at this point and should probably just be cut.

To me Osa/Thomas/Toia/Winfrey are all better than him right now.

This morning's FWST kicked McClay in the teeth for drafting him. Basically said Mazi will make the final roster because the alternatives are as bad or worse.

And because his contract is guaranteed. No way Jerry just eats that.

I don't blame McClay for the alternatives, though. You know how the Joneses refuse to admit mistakes. They no doubt didn't pursue anyone because they still think that first rounder is in there.

Once again, how can a DT be drafted in any round with a scouting report that states, "slow off the ball/snap"? I'd see that and their name would go in the bin.

I can't imagine Mazi's score being very high.
Remember the weight room videos? They had to add places to put extra weights for him!

And the bounding up the stairs, man!

I thought he looked good when I watched him. Was just hard to tell because our run game wasn't doing shit with Sanders back there.
I have a feeling Booker is going to take a while to be a good run blocker and might be better in short yardage though even that not right away. It's unfair to ask him to be the impact player Martin was almost from day one.

He's slow, like planetary object slow, so we've got to build with that in mind.

Booker was fine considering the offense was a shit show overall, ravid is just going to be pissy for the next 5 years about not taking Harmon.
He will be OK, but he's not going to create holes quickly. He's going to get his man, but might be in the way blocking for our faster backs. I doubt he'll be dynamic in space.

I recall our early 90's OL having similar issues and a patient back like Emmitt really excelled behind them while Herschel mostly ran into them.

He made the Feldman freaks list for his feats of strength that do not translate to the football field.
Strength without technique and athleticism is pretty useless at the highest level of anything you are using that strength for.

Even fucking strongmen throwing up absurd weights have to have a certain technique to get to the very top.

He's going to move people in the run game, just in a power based scheme than the zone stuff we ran for years.

It might take him a few games to figure out how to play against NFL strength though.
