But...just to play devil's advocate.

Imagine there's a scenario where Deion would maybe accept a low enough, incentive based salary that makes it cheaper for Jerry to hire Deion even with the buyout.

I don't see it.... Not with that guy.

He's not someone who is absolutely dying to prove his worth as a coach. And he's notorious for not taking less than what he perceives his value to be.

There is ZERO chance he takes less than 8-10 million a year. And the Cowboys would still have to pay the 8 million dollar buyout.

I'll say this, and I know it won't be popular, but I'd rather have him than Kellen fucking Moore.

The reason why is because Kellen Moore is never going to be a good coach. Deion isn't destined for greatness, but I can see him trying to do at the NFL level what he did at Colorado and this is try to assemble the best staff possible.

And if Jerry were actually to hire him, he'd give him some leeway to make certain decisions because again, it's Deion.... And that guy isn't going to concede shit.

You give him exactly what he wants or he's not providing you with his services.

So just for the possibility that he could actually assemble an interesting staff, I'd go with him over Moore because I'm 100% convinced that Moore is going to be a clueless bozo completely in over his head that will that us back to the Garrett era of football.

Sanders could have his pick of quite a few old ass coaches to take his OC job and the best he did could do is Pat goddamn Shurmur to coach his kid to be a top pick in the NFL.

He is not some hotshot coach who has his finger to the pulse of the game now and won't drag in coaching talent other than people he hung out with back in the day.

I wouldn't. As much as I don't want Moore, I want Deion and the circus that would follow him even less.

He's getting by (?) in college on his rah rah bullshit, and the PRIMETIME persona because that's what kids today eat up like fucking mana from heaven. It certainly isn't because of his coaching chops. That shit would get old with NFL players before his first training camp was done. Sure, a few of the first and second year guys would eat it up. But the veterans? Riiiiight.

You think Jerry is bad now? The press coverage of the implosion of the Dallas Cowboys/Primetime circus would be 24/7. And Jerry would revel in it. All the while proclaiming 'Dadgum it. We're trying. It's hard to win in the NFL.'

Kellen Moore is a schmuck. But at least he's a football schmuck. And as much as we love to bash him, he has had some success. Coaching actual NFL players. I'd take him 10 times out of 10 over Deion.

And to be clear, I don't like our odds with Deion and would hate the hire.

But with him I think there would at least be a chance that we could luck into success simply for the fact that Deion isn't a guy who is looking to prove to everyone how smart he is.

If you've followed him while he's been at Colorado, then you'd know he's more than happy to be the walk around coach and the face of the program.

He doesn't want to teach X's and O's or anything like that. And that's why he lets his coaches coach.

So I don't think it's completely out of the realm of possibility that he puts together a solid staff here and that is what generates success for us.

But Moore? Might as well go back to Garrett because it would be the same shit and I have no desire to go back to that.
