I think Philly handles Lions now. Detroit defense is in shambles and like to cover in man defense which Hurts can beat. His trouble is with zone coverage. Philly is great in trenches, has weapons everywhere on offense and the defense is great. Also, they are staying amazingly healthy.

Nah, Philly is one of the most flawed 12-2 teams I've ever seen.

Could they beat Detroit? Yeah, it wouldn't be impossible. But they're seriously flawed offensively and I think Detroit beat them by 2 scores.
When you've got a guy like Barkley hurdling over people backwards on his way to 2000 yards, the rest doesn't have to be perfect.

And they still have a very good OL, fine WRs, and a QB who can sneak in short yardage without getting concussed.

They could beat Detroit but it seems like a 30%ish proposition where they'd need most things to fall in their favor.

If Detroit jumps out to an early lead it'd be over.

I mostly agree but I think there are two things you are missing and they are major issues.

They have a very vulnerable defense. I think Fangio is a good coach and they are getting away with smoke and mirrors, but talent wise they are lacking outside of Carter.

And, they have a QB who is a very limited passer. They hide this behind Barkley, RPOs, and simple reads, but it can be exploited if he's forced to pass a lot.

It worries me that most of the NFC is highly flawed so they could sneak through. But my guess is that Detroit would spank them if it comes to it.

I think Green Bay would probably beat them as well but that seems like an unlikely playoff matchup at the moment based on seeding.

I think on the right day the Rams would have a shot too, but similar to an Eagles/Lions matchup I think the Rams would need lots to break their way for it to happen.

Yeah, and it's the offense that's the bigger issue.

If you control their running game, and Detroit can certainly do that with their physicality, then you make them a passing team and they are not very good at all at that.

If you make them have to lean on their passing game, they're fucked.

I think the other thing is because Detroit is so explosive, they can get out to a big lead and force the eagles to pass all day.

Especially at home.

As long as Detroit gets Anzalone back and doesn't have any more serious defensive injuries I think they're an easy 7ish point favorite against the Eagles in a NFCC matchup.

Good coaches and GM's find ways to cover up their weaknesses. They went out and got Barkley, those fucking bastards, and it was the move Hurts needed.

We can stare at any team and nitpick. My dad was super critical of KC yesterday, for example, and at the end of the day they still won by two TDs on the road vs a great defense.

Detroit is damned good, though injuries are catching up to them.

The Rams are intriguing as well, as Stafford and McVay are finding ways to improve and win, and that defense is also finding its groove. They've proven they can hang with anyone.

Going to be a fun season to watch down the stretch, just wish our Cowboys were in it

They lost a DT and 2 corners for the season yesterday. Their injuries will be their undoing.

Yea it's starting to look like a great season will be wasted.

This is why Detroit fans should still be pissed at Dan Campbell for being so reckless in the NFC Championship Game. They have never been that close to a Super Bowl before in their lifetime, and Campbell coached that game as if it were a random game in October.

I understand that he's a risk taker and people like him for that, but time and situation should trump taking risks.

I mentioned in January when he was blowing the game to the 49ers that it's not a given that they'd get back to that point. Things happen to derail championship caliber rosters all the time....like a severe rash of injuries. And when you consider that the NFL operates in a manner that makes it difficult to keep teams together for more than 4 or 5 years, when you get the opportunity they had last season you have to take advantage of it and not piss it away like Campbell did.
