Here's the thing about Rico and why I don't necessarily agree that he's a good #2.
Good #2's are the ones that make people wonder if they're capable of being the #1 guy if given a heavier load.
Those are guys that in their limited role, they show flashes of a #1 and sometimes flash so much of it that it fools teams into thinking they are a #1. That almost never works out because these guys flash as #1's because of their limited touches and lack of film on them. But the point is, they at least show that sort of ability in their shared role.
Think Felix Jones, Marion Barber, Joseph Randle, Tony Pollard, etc.
These are guys who could make people miss or displayed impressive agility, break tackles and power their way to extra yardage, maximize the running room given them to break off long runs, and all could fill in as a starter when called upon and we didn't skip a beat offensively.
Rico does NONE of that.
At any point in time has Rico ever made anyone here believe that he could be a #1? Do you think there's NFL teams that are going to line up to sign him to be their starter?
Absolutely not.
So while the guy isn't awful or useless, you can find a better guy than him that actually brings some real ability to the table in the 5th round of the draft.
Let him walk, take the comp pick, and come back next year with two guys who both offer you more than he can and ever will.
