He's absolutely right.

Ed sounds a little slow there. I hope he's not suffering any side effects from all those years of playing.

But yet, he still makes very solid points. The guardian cap does nothing for violent shots to the upper body that cause that neck to snap which can trigger head trauma.

It's the NFL's lame attempt to pretend they care about player safety. You know what would go a lot further in protecting both the players' short term and long term health?

Get rid of Thursday night games and the extra 17th game. Both those things would be 100 times more effective than allowing them to put a giant pillow over their helmets.

I know it is, but that's my point -- the NFL doesn't give a shit about player safety or health.
But they act like they do. Hell, just see the new kickoff rules.
