I don't think so. There's no way to look back on this time and anything he's done and spin it well. And as time goes on, the incentive to attach a positive spin to him disappears.

No one tries to spin Harding, for example. As time goes on less and less people spin Carter.

It's not like Democrats get in and suddenly Lincoln was bad or Republicans get in and suddenly Kennedy was bad. Yes some people have tried but generally history has been kind to these guys and they're from two different parties. At a certain point it doesn't matter what side of the aisle they were on, they were just Americans.

That's an interesting and very big deal. They'd probably really have to rally the troops for more money, and how many troops would still be on board at that point?
