Dump Dak and roll with Trey Lance. If he can’t play, then draft a QB. Hell, draft a QB this year and every fucking year until you find one who doesn’t melt down mentally when it matters.
Honestly, this is what I do.

I just roll with Trey Lance for next year and run some iteration of what the 49ers are doing.

Now, if we had a real GM, he'd trade Dak for maybe a 1st and 3rd, and I use a high pick this year on a QB I can develop or maybe even trade for a solid starter type that doesn't lose you games for the 2024 season.

But we don't have a real GM so my guess is we trot Dak out there again next year and probably even extend him.

AGE
Watson: Entering his prime
Prescott: Downside of his prime
Dak is coming off of his best season. He's 30 and QBs often go to their late 30s. He's just now entering his prime and teams will look at him and assume they'd get at least 5 good years from him. That's an eternity when you are desperate for a QB.

BEST SEASON
Watson: Texans with 1 other Pro Bowler
Prescott: Cowboys with 8 other Pro Bowlers
How many of Dak's offensive teammates are pro bowlers. Not 8. It's more like 3? And only one is a skill position.

And plenty of QB hungry teams will assume they have similar or enough weapons.

PREVAILING TRADE CLIMATE
Watson: Rams Stafford trade success
Prescott: Browns Watson trade failure

Irrelevant. It's a supply and demand issue, not a climate issue.

FATAL FLAW
Watson: Chokes his chicken
Prescott: Chokes in playoffs

Also irrelevant. A lot teams would kill just to have 3 straight 12 win playoff seasons.

Are we keeping this bitch open for tonight’s chatter or does a new Monday Chatter help us move on
I vote for a new thread. Not because it helps us move on, but just to keep the topics separate.

Not seriously drafting a QB in the face of 8 successive years of failure with this one is one bit of evidence why this franchise leadership doesn’t have the stones to win it all.

The 49ers aggressively pursued a replacement at QB and found one. The Packers drafted their starter’s replacement even though they knew it would piss him off. You can bet the Steelers won’t stay with Pickett for long either.

Us? We’re nonsensically stubborn in the face of clear evidence our guy just doesn’t have “it”. Can you win with that? Well, the Ravens and Bucs proved so in 2000 and 2002, but good luck repeating that path to success.

One path forward could be to draft and sign all defense and hire a defensive minded coach. Ride it out with Prescott hopefully getting enough short fields to win

I couldn't care less if we don't have a succession plan in place. I'd rather go 0-17 than see Dak Prescott under center for us again.

This would be preferable to remaining in purgatory, which us essentially where we're at

Cleveland gave up a windfall for Watson and then handed him a guaranteed albatross contract. After Watson was out for a year and had huge allegations over his head.
Does it still count if they were desperate idiots?

Deshaun Watson initially rejected them, then Baker got in his feelings and demanded a trade once word got out that they were trying to replace him. That meant Cleveland was going to be stuck with Case Keenum or Jacoby Brissett as their QB options for a team built to win now. That prompted them to double-back with that absurd contract for Watson.

The Raiders have a "shoot from the hip" owner who desperately needs a franchise QB. Maybe that's our mark.

By the way the Lions got 3 first round picks plus a starting QB for Stafford just a couple years ago. Stafford was 33.

You can't tell me Stafford had a better career in Detroit than Dak has had in Dallas.

There's no reason outside of the idiots that run the team that we couldn't get a similar or better haul for Dak.

Prescunt getting an extension will be what officially ends my fandom.

I said the same thing last night. I'm out if that happens. I'm gonna use "Prescunt" btw.

I do it. It’s trade time . Bite the QB bullet and draft a running back.

I’d be on the phone with Chicago right fucking now. No-Trade clause or not, I’m offering Dak for their two 1st round picks and see if they’re interested or come back with a counteroffer. Because, if they bite, I’m going full bore for Harbaugh. Giving him the entire team and three first round picks is a great way to start.
