My own father who is an Iowa alumni has never told me that.

I lived through that shit.

We moved from San Diego to a shithole right outside Des Moines in 1979.

I show up rocking my Cowboys gear, some kids are immediately in what I first thought was Steelers gear (I have no idea what an Iowa uni looks like other than that), with a few goobers in Vikings shit.

Needless to say, that was so motherfucking culture shock.
