Yet another rationalization for the Joneses to chase Beckham. He won’t cost a pick and will be cheaper! ~Coaltrane laugh~

I posted this a few days ago and a response someone on Reddit had, because these cap numbers Sturm is posting are misleading. It would be much lower for us because we only have to worry about base salaries.

Am I the only one who has no interest in Cooks? I wouldn't pay him that much, even the lower actual amount.

I don't want Diggs because he's a diva and is getting older.

Evans would be intriguing because he's an outside guy and CeeDee could play in the slot. Plus he's a badass. But I'd want to know what went wrong in Tampa first.

Hopkins I'd take because he's a true stud and just a few years ago was IMO probably the best WR in the game. He just didn't have a QB.

It amazes me when so called experts don't understand how the cap works.

Yep. And infuriating to me. It's literally their jobs to give accurate information. Just lazy.

Same with that Warren Sharp post the other day about Dallas having a 6 million dollar QB room from 2016-2019 or whatever it was. Completely false because Romo counted quite a bit against the cap until like 2018. It's just sloppy and lazy and shitty reporting.

Don't know if this was posted by the way. Enjoy, @Smitty . :unsure

The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports a trade of Rams CB Jalen Ramsey to Dallas is "picking up steam in league circles."
The Dallas secondary struggled in the second half of last year after losing CB Jourdan Lewis to IR. Ramsey could be a fit for the Cowboys, who believe they are 'one piece away from being an elite defense.' Pairing Ramsey with Treevon Diggs would give the Cowboys one of the top corner tandems, but wouldn't come cheap, likely costing Dallas a first-round pick and a new contract extension.

Fuck that.

No. Not for a first, for sure.

Did we really struggle because of the corners or did they wear down Parsons too much so the pass rush wasn't as effective?

I wouldn't mind Cooks but it would have to be low compensation.

On the other hand I'd want them all to be low compensation. Outside of Diggs (who isn't going anywhere due to his cap hit for buffalo if he's traded/released), they all have warts right now. None of them would exactly be selling high.

I agree with Evans probably being the best target pending how high of a draft pick they'd want. I think his cap hit would only be 13 or 14 million, which is an insane bargain.

I'm intrigued by Hopkins also.

Not sure I'd really say we struggled. But we struggled most probably when we were down to Wright and Joseph playing significant snaps at corner. Them and any other street turd we had to put in there.

But no Bland, Diggs and Lewis when they were healthy were not a problem in my opinion. If we need anything it's a NT and a real stud LBer like Wagner. Not saying Ramsey wouldn't be great but it's a terrible return on resources in my opinion.

I think it was probably a little of both.

I agree. Running Wright and Joseph out there was pretty brutal. Mukuamu seemed to settle things down when he got in there and they much better again.

A better secondary would certainly help next year. We can't just ignore it.

I don't think you can just return those guys and think you're good to go. We had that plus Brown last year and due to injuries it wasn't enough. We have to get better at corner. And we can't assume health.

I'd love to see Wright and Joseph off the roster next season. Churn baby churn.
I'm ok with Joseph replacing Goodwin but that's about it. I agree we can't ignore the secondary. I keep drafting dudes. I have faith in Bland, Diggs, Lewis and our safeties. I'm getting close to feeling the same on Mukuamu at safety or corner. But yeah I'm still hunting DBs on day three. And why not, most of those guys I listed were drafted in the third round and later. You have to be open to taking more. Especially on day three where you (The Cowboys) probably hit at the highest rate of any position at DB.

I'd probably even welcome Brown back if he is real cheap. But I recognize he might suck after that injury so it would have to be really cheap.

I wouldn't hate it if we gave up like a 3 this year and 2 next year for Ramsey, I wouldn't do it but I could understand the logic of it. We'd have the best CB tandem in the league along with arguably the best group of edge rushers in the league, that could be a nightmare.

But never in a million years would I give up a 1.
