Lost in the shit show is the strong performance by Tyler Smith. How about he stays there at LT, Farniok looks good at LG and we put Peters out at RT? Steele still blows chunks.

Yeah, Dak is regressing because he has had to deal with seven years of coaching. He has shown the potential to be elite but it's going to fall by the wayside unless someone like Payton can come in next year and design an offense that accentuates his strengths and hides his weakness.
McCarthy's got to get his hands on the offense and establish a dominant run game...they have the components, but Moore has the most convoluted offensive philosophy obviously Jason Garrett-infused.

This defense is still special, there needs to be an honest effort to craft some wins in the next few months.

according to All-Pro linebacker Devin White, the Bucs defense played well not only because they executed, but also because they weren't fooled by anything the Cowboys tried to do.
"I think it was just great preparation," said White following the 19-3 victory at AT&T Stadium. "This time going into the game already having film against them against us and knowing how they like to attack us. So I think we were able to put together a better game plan than last year. … Last year we learned they really weren't going to commit to the run game and the runs they did, they were going to try to get outside and not run into the interior.
"But most of the [passing] game was quick-game - a lot of curls, a lot of hitches, a lot of slants. We kind of knew that going in so we were able to attack it."
You gonna be jobless halfway through the season if you don't do something, Mike!

He can't with Dak playing like that.

I'll say it again, I hate that the injury removes basically all scrutiny of Dak's performance last night. How was he that bad? He's not elite, but he's not that awful either. Now, no one will even ask the question.

Arrogance.

We should have gone into the offseason with the mentality of, last year good teams exposed our OC, our scheme, and our QB. We should have addressed and fixed those issues.

Instead, out of arrogance they didn't want to believe that any of those things were issues. Instead, they took away major weapons from a QB who was already struggling.

And here we are. With an OC and QB in over their heads, but with less weapons and less protection.

He was solid although he got lots of help, held up 1 on 1 a few times, but solid overall. At this point I'm treating the rest of this year like an extended preseason, hoping to see growth from potential future cornerstones like Smith.

In terms of how to configure the OL right now, I think I'd lean towards playing Peters at LG and hoping Steele stops committing 4 penalties a game, but moving Peters to RT should be on the table.

We don't have to go any further than this. It makes the offense really really easy to defend.

Trust me, I detest Kellen Moore's Garrett stank and the FO insistence on keeping it. I admit I got triggered the other day when I heard Cosell calling a CeeDee route a Coryell "Bang 8" when we have a classic WCO head coach. So dysfunctional.

But Dak was the main problem last night. Awful. It's like he lost all his confidence or something. And he was so good against this same team a year ago.
Perhaps so, I'm just making the point that the problems run much deeper than him and last night was mostly a continuation of what we saw last year, just with worse WR's and a healthy Elliott.

The defense was good overall.

The run defense was spotty early and got worn down in the 2nd half when our offense couldn't stay on the field for more than about 4 straight plays, but they limited Brady to under 300 yards passing, only 1 TD which was balanced out with a pick, and gave up 19 points.

And this was with Prescott gifting them the ball on about the 20.

They weren't perfect but you can't expect much more than that.

Farniok did play well.

It seemed like Steele had three penalties in like 37 seconds.

Absolutely. No defense can hang vs an offense like Tampa Bay's if their own offense is constantly 3-and-outing.

We looked like we hadn't practiced in months

Instead of just elevating the next young former QB to OC in hopes that they're the next Payton they need to actually go outside the organization for play-callers/offensive architects.

McCarthy is the definition of a walkaround coach and doesn't seem to do shit with the offense so I'm not counting him.

The only time Garrett's/Linehan's offense worked at a truly high level in the last 12 years (2014 and 2016) was when we had literally 3 HOF talents on the OL plus a handful of other Pro Bowl talents at the skill positions.

All they did with Moore is take a guy who had no NFL experience beyond Garrett/Linehan and promoted him because he's a fresh face with a recognizable name.
