At the time of Pollard’s injury, We were on the verge of getting Purdy out of his comfort zone and on the ropes. Defense has stymied them into 3 real points.
A FG or TD with <30 sec left and we take a lead into halftime getting the ball back. Score after half and potentially up 10 pts to put Niners in uncomfortable catch up mode.
Then the INT and insert ~Dennis Green quote~
Yea, it's stuff like this that has driven so many Cowboys fans to the edge.
Like it's completely logical to be optimistic going into next year. If you take QB out of the equation San Francisco probably has the best roster in the league and we more or less otuplayed them on the road for a large portion of the game.
The roster is mostly young, we should be very good next year.
But on the flip side, Dak threw quite possibly the worst INT of his career in that spot and completely sunk our momentum with things going our way.
Then you factor in the "27 years" and all that and everything is just completely bipolar with this team.
Some teams like the Lions or Dolphins haven't been in a NFCC or AFCC in forever but they also never make the playoffs so it is what it is. This team has (and is) good enough to give you hope but ultimately they fail to deliver for one reason or another.
An NFL record 12 playoff appearances without a conference championship appearance sums that up perfectly.
