I think I feel that way also. Purdy was a pretty good college QB at Iowa State but the appeal he had was his size and strength. Had a good but not a great delivery on passing plays but at times he would force a few passes rather than throw them away. He is talented but not seasoned so a solid consistent pressure would keep him in tow.
