Armstrong, Basham and Golston can absorb the base packages/run downs with Parsons playing more of a traditional LB role, then in nickel/dime and you unleash Parsons.

But what would really bring this all together is adding Wagner as a true impact player in the front 7 who can unlock Parsons to be moved all over no matter the down/distance.
Yeah Parsons isn't really playing DE but if he isn't rushing the passer on most passing downs you're wasting his skills. That could be blitzing or it could be lining up at DE. He is great at both. All the other DE at least aren't liabilities.

I would earmark one of our fifths for a safety. That’s where we seem comfortable throwing a shot at it.
I personally don’t like seeing Parsons at End. Unless it is a hybrid motion type. His strength is his ability to move and make plays. I feel he is limited being put in that position and his ability to see the field and react is diminished.
I mean we have 4 fifths, we should be able to afford that. I know we will probably use those fifths to move up in other rounds but I'd almost rather keep them and take multiple shots. When you do nothing in free agency you need as many shots as you can get. Hope your scouts earn their money.

u guys dont realize coachie is a championship level coach in texas high school ball. nfl players have come out of his program and he knows quite a few people in coach staff in nfl. he introduced me to a few due to business reasons.

What you don't realize is that means absolutely zero to me.

Be cool, I'm cool. That's it.

Nope, we don't have enough.
We have enough to survive but like you and I were talking about the other day we need special somewhere. Which means no, we don't have enough. I'll take that in the form of a DE or DT. Just give me more pass rush. I guess we should just go old school and focus totally on the lines with a WR and such here or there.

I mean if we can get most of a season out of Tank that would be great. Parsons is a terror so the pass rush will still be good but I'd feel a lot better with Gregory back. I guess we will see on Fowler. If you can get 6-8 sacks from him that's a win.

I think we'll be lucky to get 3 sacks out of Fowler. I think he sucks. I wouldn't count on more than 3 or 4 from Armstrong either. We need to free up Parsons to move around and play linebacker some as well.

I think we need another upper echelon guy. My guess is it comes in the draft but I'd love to see Smith or even Hunter.

Yep agreed. There's enough to survive but it's not good enough at the same time. Another good player there and it could elevate that unit and the whole defense quite a bit.

A serious pass rusher on both sides would make Parsons extremely difficult to stop.

I wouldn't have wasted time on Fowler and just signed Smith. Smith is a potential double digit sack guy to me. Fowler if all goes perfectly to me could get you 6-8 sacks. But his one 11 sack season seems like a big outlier. Still I won't totally judge him for not racking up sacks on a Falcons team that could give him no help and only used him as a part time player. That's why I said 6-8. He won't be getting any attention here from the offense.

But there is a massive difference between what Gregory did last year and say another guy who got 6 sacks. Gregory was like a top 10 in NFL pressure player.

Basically the Cowboys have taken the money they nearly paid to Randy & ended up getting Armstrong, Washington, Fowler & LVE in return. In this particular case I’ll take the 4>1.

I disagree. Gregory gives you more production than those 4 combined. If the goal is fielding a 53 man roster for as cheap as possible, I guess the 4-1 works.

Also, you haven't returned my calls. Did you like the flowers?

sorry kitty
gregory is a proven high-quality pressure player that contributes beyond # of sacks
lve is damaged goods and a shell of his rookie year
fowler is a buy-low guy
armstrong, well we know what he offers
re is a place you need proven quality
