Just added the list of "official 30" visitors on the first page, it's interesting seeing it broken out by position, particularly how the only WR's we've brought in are clear 1st rounders.
It's odd to me. It's like the plan is first round WR or plan B is trade for one. The DEs on the other hand are clearly not first rounders. But lots of them.

They don't necessarily have to limit the 30 visits to all one position. If they feel confident in who they send to the events, they could do the job a visit was without tipping our hand. That stated expecting the Joneses to be able to keep from being less than transparent is a fantasy.

Absolutely true. I also know they like to bring in guys that they have character concerns on. They want to have the time to check them out. Guys who have zero concerns I know they have mentioned they don't always bring those guys in because there isn't much point.

I'm just saying though, I find it odd to bring in 3 stud WR prospects but zero guys who will be around after the first. None of the other positions are like that. Oline, yeah we brought in 3 first round guys but we also brought in later round guys. TEs are scatter shot, DEs all mid to late round. DTs we got first round guys and second/third round guys. Anyway, I'm excited for the draft regardless and none of you will ruin it for me!

I think he is very Dez like. Everyone remembers Dez for being a stellar contested ball receiver. But he was also an absolute stud as a runner early in his career. He could juke you or run you over on any given play. I see a lot of the same in Burks as a runner.

Plus similar size, 40 times and all that good stuff. And neither is or was a great route runner but they were good enough.
Differences I see is 1) strong route running and 2) really efficient body control, no wasted steps.

In jump ball situations, the kid is a natural. Leaping catches seem to always grab the ball at the leap apex. Dez would also leap high, but with crazy energy and who knows where he'd land. Burks motions are smooth, not violent

Dez would also almost fight a defender during contesting catches, while this guy seems to almost ignore the defender and lasers in on the football.

Anyways, he's loooong gone by 24, but I really like what I see

I could see Burk’s still there at 24.

He’ll probably be around the 4th or 5th WR taken.
His 40 time (4.55) is probably slower than people expected.

It's funny how that can drive down stock.

The top two WR's last year were Adams (4.56) and Kupp (4.62).

I think it's at least 50/50 that he's there.

I agree. I think he is the fifth WR. Behind Williams, Olave, London and Wilson. But NFL teams are weird. Sometimes a team has a preference in type and a guy will go higher than a different WR. Think Henry Ruggs going before Lamb and Jeudy. No one had that but yet the Raiders valued the pure speed.

Someone who wants a big physical receiver may jump Burks ahead of smaller skinnier guys like Olave or Wilson or even Wilson.

Either way I'm confident all 5 go in the first. I think you'll see at least 6 go in the top 32.

Pickens could be this year's Justin Jefferson too. He has grown on me.

There are also 3 or 4 WRs that I (and others) think deserve to be drafted above him.

He has a little bully to him. That doesn't seem like a Cowboy WR.

The last real bully WR we had was Irvin.

The others have all been pretenders.

Dez was there at his peak, it was just a very short-lived peak for a variety of reasons.

This is like thinking we had a shot at Aaron Donald back in 2014.
Exactly, though for different reasons. Early projections had Donald slipping for being undersized. He was a beast of a pass rusher in college, though, and that drove his stock steadily back up.

Like Javon Kinlaw in 2020, Davis has not been nor will likely become a pass rusher at the next level. But he is an athletic monster of a man and that’s how I see him as a top 15 pick.

He and Burks ain’t lasting to 24. Both should be gone by 15, though either might last to the high teens for flukish reasons. Maybe there’s a run on CB’s and QB’s? They are always overrated.

Phuck.

We’re drafting a CB

Oh, for fuck's sake. We are not taking a cornerback in the first round. Don't be so God damned lazy.

I’m an OSU fan, but I don’t like Olave. Wilson is solid, a little hyper in his breaks but has the game breaking speed. My favorite is Pickens, and Williams is so explosive he might be another Ty Hill. London is a slightly slower Mike Evans.

But it is a jumble of equal talent, depending on what teams need. Pickens is ultra competitive but could put on some weight.

I look at Burks, and I see a steady guy who can do everything. If he had a little more speed, he’d be a top ten pick.
