Yeah I was thinking Bossman but totally forgot about Canady. I would absolutely give him a shot at that job. I hate to rip a job from a corner based on one game but it was plain awful. He wasn't even competitive about it. He literally looked like he knew he just couldn't compete with the talent on the other side of the ball.
Brown is what he is - a decent third or good fourth corner.

If he's more than that there's problems. No shame in that for a 6th round pick.

I think there was a reason they were looking so hard at McG-Williams as LG-C in preseason, and it wasn't all for backup reasons like they claimed.
Yeah, I'm not sold on Biadasz yet.

I could easily see us looking for a stud center in the first couple rounds next year.

So is he blaming the coach or the front office for that?

Nevermind, what am I thinking.

I'm sure his thought process is just, "darn our luck."
Yeah...don't think he made himself clear on purpose.

All I know is that they need to reign Fassel in.

Everything on STs except Anger's punts sucked. Shitty kicker, shitty kickoff coverage (30 a pop) and punt coverage (10 yard average).

It was easily our worst unit.

FWST:

Zeke’s Game 1 stats would be semi-justifiable if the Cowboys fell behind by a large deficit and had no choice but to pass. However, that’s not what happened. They gave up on the run because they didn’t think they could run.

Thursday’s list of excuses: Tampa’s run defense was one of the best in the league. The Cowboys didn’t have Zack Martin. It was humid.

At some point Zeke is a part of the reason why.

Last year, he was stuck behind an offensive line that was beset with injuries, trying to run against defenses that loaded up on him because the starting quarterback was out for most of the year.

On Thursday, Zeke had his two starting tackles back as well as his starting quarterback, and it all looked the same.

Zack Martin is a great player, and yet he should not make that much of a difference for a player with Zeke’s stated talent
.
And Martin's replacement, McGovern, acquitted himself quite well - so there goes that excuse. What's the point of him getting in "the best shape of his life" if they're scared to use him? Did we ever hide Emmitt like this?

I don't know but I'd really think about McGovern at LG and Martin at RG. Get the best guys on the field. It almost seems silly that our second best interior lineman is a backup.

The game plan was to clearly use the short passing game as an extension of the run game to keep their front 7 off balance. Normally I'd hate passing 60 times to 18 runs or whatever but against probably the best front 7 in the league, with perhaps the best run defense in the league, without our best interior OL, and against a secondary we had a distinct advantage against, I don't mind it.

It's the type of shit we'd never see executed properly in the past with sloppy screens and such but it worked perfectly here. I very much doubt this will be our general strategy and once we're playing normal defenses with Martin back I think you'll see a much more balanced run to pass ratio.

Extension? More like "in lieu of." Everyone was healthy save for one (albeit important) guy and they basically waved the white flag before kickoff. We didn't do that when facing those stout Philadelphia fronts years ago. If their point is that Zeke can only have success against middling to bad defenses, then that's quite an indictment.

I don't think those Eagles defenses were literally the best run defense in the league at any point during that stretch.

The fact that TB's secondary is so average is just even more reason for the strategy. I don't think you just abandon the run against any strong run defense but it was clear early on that Prescott was dealing so they stuck with what was working.

And more generally, it was always inevitable that the offense would need to become more pass/Dak-centric over time with the investment at WR. Last night was an extreme example but this offense no longer revolves around Elliott like it's 2016.

Elliott has peaked, he's overpaid, and our talent at WR is too much to bypass, but I still think he's a borderline elite RB and will end up with about 1400 yards/11 TD's this year.

I keep waiting for him to do something. He is always hyped up but never gets any sacks.
Sacks aren't all that make a DLman good. Pressures can be just as effective at killing drives.

This is the complete opposite of everything I was told for years.

I agree by the way, get what the getting is good.
It is, "get while the getting is good", youngster.
