I think the Everson Griffen signing has pretty much put that to bed. People have been wailing and gnashing their teeth over Crawford's contract all spring and summer, and how it would keep us from signing an impact player for the Dline.

Guess not.
Yes, but that's this year under a new regime. But before that, we really passed on quality players at positions of need and they'd end up signing for very reasonable deals.

Clearly that's not the case this year, but it certainly was for most of Garrett's tenure and seeing them be cheap while paying the likes of Crawford what he was making made it all the more frustrating.

No, he's not.

And that's why I didn't get why everyone outside of Dallas kept talking about Lamb being the starter and getting the #88 and all of this other stuff.

They were all completely overlooking Gallup. It's almost as if they didn't realize the guy was already a 1,000 yard receiver in his 2nd year.

Gallup has been really really really good. Hell, I don't want to get nitpicky about what-ifs but the misses to Gallup in 2018 were huge misses.

3 straight weeks Dak missed him on wide open, game-sealing long TDs.

You give him just those 3 completions, and his rookie season looks even more impressive with 3 more 3 TDs and 150 more yards.

This guy is a stud and if the Cowboys play their cards right, they should be able to have a 1-2 punch even after Coop's contract is up.

Sure. But people were saying we couldn't, not that we wouldn't. And pointed at Crawford's contract numbers as reason #1 as to why we could not. Not because our idiot coaches were happy with what we had.

And that is all that I was saying.

Well played.

The wonders of YouTube. I've watched A LOT of Cowboys videos in YouTube during this quarantine.

Crazy how feeling like your team has a real chance again does to reignite the flame.
a touch of optimism perhaps?

Oh definitely.

Not going to homer out, but just feeling like your team is on a level playing field again is enough.

With Garrett and under Jerry's way of doing things, I always felt like the Cowboys had to be better than the other team and then some.

I've said this many times before, but I was absolutely convinced that the Cowboys would never win another Superbowl so long as they continued to operate that way. The way the team functioned under Garrett, we were basically at a disadvantage year in and year out.

So yeah, I'm optimistic by simply knowing that after roughly 14 years, the team is back to having the same sort of odds that everyone else does.

There hasn't been much to update that I have seen. And, they are off today so don't expect much today.

the odds have indeed improved, and maybe talent will be rewarded now.
