As long as it's his impending death and not our impending death as fans. But yeah I really hope it's true. I probably would have already cut the guy. I wasn't a big fan when he was hired and everything I have seen since shows me why he is a terrible defensive coordinator.

Schultzy is definitely one of the few good surprises of the 2020 season.

I literally thought he couldn't play at all. I don't know what got into him but out of nowhere he's actually pretty good. I'm very happy to have been wrong about him.

As an aside, remember when the Eagles took Goedert in front of us because they thought we'd desperately want him after just losing Witten? How the Eagles thought they were dunking on us? And we had to "settle" for Schultz a couple rounds later?

Good times.

Schultz 2020
5151010.03

Goedert 2020
3944711.53

Bonus...Goedert's best season (2019)
5860710.5

The one big upside with Stephen is that I'd be shocked if he's as buddy-buddy with the players and there's no way he's going to be as much of a shameless promoter as Jerry. I think a lot of the glitz and bullshit will fade away, at least as far as being peddled directly by the owner.

That in and of itself should help change the culture somewhat.

he's shown a much better ability to separate himself from players/staff, one of Jerry's fatal flaws.

Hey Michael:

If the owner ain't trippin' we good...
Seriously??? How's that for a loser's mentality!
Love this Irving clip!
Mike, Troy, and Emmitt didn't tolerated anything less than a championship attitude. And of course, the 90's league was a different world. Maybe the last of the old school physical, play your guts out, play to win culture.
Yes, today's players are bigger, faster, and stronger than ever. But good Lord, they're self absorbed, fragile ego, bad tackling, money loving tit bags.

What Jaylon says here has been the message that has been constantly reinforced in the 25 years since Jimmy was fired.

Regardless of your own performance, regardless of who stands on that sideline, if Jerry is happy with you, "you're good." So that is the highest motivation and goal.

Jerry does not require super bowls, championships, or divisional wins to be happy with you. He does not require sustained high-quality performance to be happy with you. He cannot hold others accountable, because he cannot hold himself accountable.

This team could luck into some measure of success as it has tried to do in the past 20-some years. But it will not be sustainable or the product of any intentional process.

That’s only partially true. The championships came pretty early in their career and after about 5 years it was all over and they were powerless to turn it back to the championship days. Eventually Troy retired because of physical shortcomings and Irving finished in a heap on the Philly field while Emmitt sought another venue when the team was obviously simply average and he wanted to perpetuate his career elsewhere. The were powerless to turn the team around.
