Ya know what would be really funny is if Mack Brown had tried recruiting Boykin as a db too
I look for the aggies to have a top 5 class I bet this gives them a real boost in recruiting.jsmith6919
LSU Tigers defensive coordinator John Chavis is headed to the Texas A&M Aggies to take the same position on Kevin Sumlin's coaching staff, a source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy on Wednesday.
The 58-year-old Chavis has been the defensive coordinator under Les Miles at LSU since 2009. He won the Broyles Award as the nation's top assistant coach in 2011.
This season, LSU ranked fourth nationally -- and second in the SEC behind Georgia -- in passing yards allowed, giving up only 162.3 yards per game.
Chavis will replace Mark Snyder, who was relieved of his duties after the regular season. The Aggies allowed an average of 38.3 points and 502.5 yards in their final seven games under Snyder's watch this season.
Under Snyder, the Aggies ranked 103rd nationally in yards allowed per game (449) and 111th in rushing defense (223.5 yards allowed per game).
"They've been very effective," Sumlin said earlier this season of the LSU defense. "They've been athletic, had some different people on the field, they've done a nice job. [Chavis] has done a nice job this year, too.
"John Chavis' record stands for itself defensively, and he's as good as there is in the country."
I thought these bowl games would change some minds.
"at this time I'm still committed to UT, but I wouldn't mind speaking to Coach Sumlin, if he called." -Malik Jefferson per gigem twofourtyseven
It actually has got pretty interesting lately.Vizio has to be pissed. Their first year as sponsor and the Festa Bowl is reduced to a New Years Eve bullshit day game.
No shit. Never heard of this cowbell thing with MSU until this year.Game hasn't even started yet and I'm already tired of Miss St cowbells.
I would be very surprised if it isn't an open competition.I thought these bowl games would change some minds.
Allen had me worried in that 1st half but I saw some 5 star talent in the 2nd, I still think the QB position should be open heading into next year.
That's because the SEC banned them from using their cowbells in games years ago. They can only use them in their OOC home games if the other team agrees and in bowl games. No shit. Never heard of this cowbell thing with MSU until this year.
In fact, I knew jack shit about that program other than they were the SEC's redheaded cousin with a hairlip for decades until this year.
It's like their offense is so old, it's almost innovative and other teams can't handle it.
Drives me effing insane. It's like their offense is so old, it's almost innovative and other teams can't handle it.
The reliance on it is what would drive me nuts, but I'd rather my team use that running scheme and the zone read.Drives me effing insane.
It is hard to watch when you disagree so much with the philosophy.
But it will almost always run out of luck for two or three games a year and if it does, it is so specialized, you are effed.
That is why I wanted Johnson gone so bad.
It will never win a national title. Ever. Eventually, you have to be able to do more than run an offense that was the rage in the 1940s.
Not sure why. The Orange Bowl has the same significance it's always had.The new system has pretty much made me uninterested in non-playoff bowl games.
I feel the same. The new system has pretty much made me uninterested in non-playoff bowl games.
