A good way to generate views and attention on social media... just an extension of how agents fake-leak trade interest from Dallas for their clients when the Cowboys time and again have shown literally no interest.
More exposure is usually good, and it's a very cheap way to get it

I think in this situation the Cowboys are legitimately interested. The player and agent may be very legitimately interested in the Cowboys. But ultimately none of that matters if the Raiders aren't interested in trading him. At this point I don't know that the Raiders have any interest in trading the player. Again, the Raiders should be interested in trading him. Their team is a dumpster fire with little to no other talent. As a GM it would be smart to recognize this and look towards the future. But some teams are never willing to let the star player go until it is too late (See Jerry Jones and the Cowboys up until the Parsons trade as a perfect example).

I think it's probably just them negotiating through the media, it's not a coincidence that the specific team mentioned as reaching out is the highest profile team in the league with a recent influx of 1st rounders.
I'm guessing there is interest on both sides in some form or fashion, but that's a complete guess.
I also think the ties between Caroll and Schottenheimer, plus the Jones/Davis dynamic, makes a deal more likely than not if both sides are interested, but it's impossible to really know what the interest levels are.

Listened to Charles Robinson of Yahoo on the Fan and it was pretty interesting. Said he doesn't think it means much what the Raiders said about not trading Crosby, because he personally talked to a GM who said well before the Micah trade that he knew Micah was available even though Stephen later said he hadn't gotten any calls about him. Said that's semantics -- the trade wasn't "about" Micah to start out with, but they did talk about it. The GM said Micah was available, but he knew his owner wouldn't give what it would take to make the trade.
But he did say it's long been known to everyone that Crosby is Bowl Cut's favorite player by far, and doesn't think he would trade him unless Crosby went to him and asked for it.
He thinks Hendrickson might have been made available if Flacco hadn't made them look a lot better. Not that he might not still be in a week or two.
Also said he thinks Simmons could be available, partly because he's going to ask for a lot more money.

I think the Raiders were saying even before he signed the contract that they weren't going to trade Crosby. They seem to really like him.
I don't think it's impossible that things change and they wind up trading him, but my biggest concern is that their reluctance to trade him drives the price higher than it should be and that Jerry pays it anyway.
I'd give up a 1 for him but I wouldn't give up more premium picks than that.

I'd give up a 2/3 for Simmons and worry about his contract when it's up in two years.
Or extend him now and spread it out over the 2 years remaining, plus the 3-4 you extend him for, effectively making it a 5-6 year extension.
We already have a solid starting DT duo but I'm just looking for elite defensive players anywhere I can find them at the moment.

It would be kind of nice if the team just went all in. We have all seen the Eagles do this, say fuck the cap, add a shit load of talent and make a run. I think I'm game for this. Worry about the contracts and money later. Like let's make a legit push right now to go and try to win a Superbowl. You have something special on offense this season. And there is no guarantee that you'll have that again next year or the year after or the year after. And if you want to win a Superbowl, having either a special offense or a special defense is the easiest path to get there. You just have to be decent to good on the other side of the ball.
I've certainly turned the corner on this and am ready to say fuck it, push the chips all in. I don't care about sacrificing some picks that are a coin flip to become the next Mazi, Schoonmaker or Sam Williams. And frankly I don't care about building for the future right now. You have a short window left with a franchise QB. And if you're not willing to make the push with Dak at QB, then dump players and go build for the future because you're not trying to win with this team.

I generally agree with the only caveat being I wouldn't be too aggressive to make moves for just this year, it has to be something (or someone) that will make a difference for the next 2-4 years.
Hendrickson is the perfect example, he'd be a nice boost this year, but he's also likely a half season rental unless they extend him for 25/year or whatever, which I'm not sure any of us would be happy about. I wouldn't give up too much for someone like him.
But Simmons or Crosby who are young enough to be Pro Bowl players for another 2-3 years after this season?

I mean I don't want everything to blow up after this year. But much like the Pickens trade, if the cost is on level for a one year rental I'm ok with it. And maybe you're able to extend Hendrickson for a couple of years. Much like we are all now hoping the Cowboys can extend Pickens. I don't think anyone here is going to say the Pickens trade was a bad trade if we aren't able to resign him.
And frankly the franchise tag is available to hold someone up from free agency to either trade to get value back or to keep for another year (Although if the player gets pissed trading is really the only option)
