I just got an alert on my phone. Something about a “derecho”?

Sounds fun. EF2 and EF5 tornados predicted. I think it’ll miss us, but I hope everyone is safe.

I saw that Norman, OK got hit yesterday. That's too close to home; roughly 20 minutes from my parents.

I was at a restaurant last night less than a mile from the one on I40 near the outlet mall west of OKC. They actually made everyone get to the kitchen entrance so we could run in there if we had to. Lights flickered a few times and you could hear booms from power transformers blowing up, or the wind, or whatever that was. Never had that happen before.

Yeah they're good. Plus if it actually hit in their area of OKC they at least have a storm shelter in the garage.
Good to hear.

@Sheik

Does your new place have a storm shelter?

That would be my #1 priority if moving to OK.

Yeah, we actually hung out in it for an hour or so last night.

We lost power around 10:30 last night and our cell phones don’t work unless we’re connected to the Wi-Fi at home, thanks ATT&T. The last alert we had was saying to “TAKE COVER NOW, DONT WAIT!!”, so we did. I still have no idea if we had a tornado near by, but we’ve been without power and will be for at least the next 12 hours according to city hall.

My next purchase is a generator.

Why would a cell need to be connected to wifi in order to work unless their local towers were out?

Glad to hear you have a shelter, seems like that would be a requirement when building out there.

We have AT&T cell service and we’ve never had any reception since we moved here, but just in the town we live in. If I go 10 minutes in any direction it works fine, just not at home. Wi-Fi calling works great from home, though.

We’ll eventually switch service, but it’s not a priority currently.

We just switched to AT&T after 20 years of Verizon, so I was just curious.

Moore OK under Tornado Warning again. It's uncanny. Crazy looking storm on news9.com. Their chopper pilot is such a pimp.

This also makes me worry more about @Sheik. Where the hell are you man.
