Hoping on unknown quantities is a good idea. That usually works out.
Usually I would say just because they are unknown to us doesn't mean they are unknown to the team. But Ball didn't practice all year and Wally is a rookie. So they team really doesn't know either.

“I surprised myself,” Smith said. “You never know how something is going to go on the first day. But going through the steps, going through team (drills), I felt like I had a pretty good period. There’s much more to improve upon and I look forward to doing that in the future.”
There is subtext here about the coaching he didn't receive prior to this camp. I think he's excited to learn and really taking to the coaching.

Exactly.

If Steele sprains an ankle week one, do we trust sending Ball or Waletzko out there against the Bucs defense?

Silly IMO not to bring in a veteran.

I think Nsheke is on speed dial.

You’ll get Isaac Alarcon and like it.

Have we ever had a rookie class this large?
Probably back in the 70’s when Tom Landry supposed had near 120 in camp at times. when it was unlimited how many players for TC a team could have.
But since the roster limits, maybe not this many since the first few years of Jimmy.

I don’t think that is necessarily true.

you're probably thinking of open tryouts

Maybe, but I remember reading where they had over 100 in TC at times. Remember, they used to have 6 preseason games back then.
Which could be why some many teams come out flat, or seem to now days. Just think now with only 3 games. Though players are in better shape then coming into cap in the 70's.

Anyway, more TC time and games, more injuries, needed more players.
