Unless you think EVERY front office in the NFL is retarded for making them a priority, and paying them as such.
They are, and are.

You need good players, but not the best players at CB.

Second round is fine. First round or monster contract-- you are not going to reclaim your investment.

Retarded. You don't have a damn clue if a player is going to wash out or be a HOFer.
The numbers say the exact opposite. At least half of the top ten in most drafts end up in the pro bowl.

There are busts (most being QB's), but they are outweighed by the successes, and the remainder have solid careers.

Dallas traded up thinking they were getting Deion and instead went all in on a guy who scored 4 on the Wonderlic.

You can't afford to trade up in every draft, but if you can with less ammo, then you have to consider it.

Mike Mamula was traded up for and taken 7th overall. And scored a ~gasp~ 49 out of 50 on the Wonderlic. The Bucs got Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks with the picks they acquired.

Maybe they should have just taken Ty Law that year instead.

Of all players projected to go top ten, are you afraid if a team drafts Gardner, or Stingly Jr?

Or even Hamilton?

I'd laugh if our rivals took them. I personally stay the F away from the secondary with the top ten picks.

But if the Giants come away with Ekwonu and Thibodeaux/Davis-- I am pissed.

Dug deep for that one I see. Thing is, they picked a rising, relatively unproven college player who didn't even fit their system. The Akili Smith of pass rushers.

I appreciate the debate, NoDak, and I'm not saying to trade up every year.

But if you can get a proven foundational guy... a lineman or pass rusher... and move up for a decent cost (no more than a 2nd) then you have to think about it.

I couldn't BELIEVE they didn't take Warren Sapp.

The draft is not about fixing your team for a single year but building it for many years.

With Smith and Martin aging, Dallas is missing impact players on either line. You can't win that way in the NFL.

You have to either get lucky and somehow find an impact lineman after pick 15 (rare as fuck) or trade up and get them.
Um it's not that rare.

I agree, for the most part. I just don't agree with having an ingrained hatred of cornerbacks. I believe a team should be built inside out, sure. You can have 4 HOFers on your Dline, but if you have trash on the back end, you're gonna suffer. Even if they are just mediocre guys. You need people that can cover and make plays, to let your pass rushers do their job. Quick 3 and 5 step drops throwing to open receivers will quickly and easily nullify that pass rush. Every all timer defense has had good corners and safeties on it, too. That's why football is the greatest TEAM game there is. It takes every one.

A DE who isn't as good of a prospect as Chase Young. Chase Young sure as shit doesn't scare me and neither does Thibodeaux. Shit draft the UCLA LT, he shut him down.

I don't know. I think if Ebiketie goes in the first, it will be towards the end. I just don't see him going before our spot. When it's all said and done, I think he will slip out of the first, and somebody will trade up to get him at the top of the 2nd after thinking about it all night.
I never underestimate how drafts are sometimes scripted. Fans are going to scream loud if you need a pass rusher. Ojabo being out shuffled things a lot.

It's true, I'm still not convinced someone doesn't go Ojabo in the second half of the draft.

McCollum is a player that I kept hearing about, but, like Linderbaum, did not get active any at all on the visit circuit.

He was at the Senior Bowl I think but don't remember him because I paid no attention to the corners.

Derek Stingley gives me Jadeveon Clowney vibes in terms of hype vs on field substance.

He's had some pretty rough moments vs good WR/QB combos. Then there's his lack of durability.

I don't see him as a flat out bust. I think he'll be the DB version of Clowney...basically a good starting CB who doesn't make a ton of impact plays.

Hes MO 2.0 type vibe..both lsu dbs both missing games over injury, leaves some question marks on his draft value.

BTW Clowney should have never went #1 all knew it and its not his fault but want this years clowney its Georgia Trevon Walker..if this guy goes top 5-10 or #1 OMG that high risk pick given we haven't seen him play 3downs.. he has upside but no one should go top 10 over upside..this isint college this is the NFL and he could become the next Donald or just another solid guy..

If he falls I'd take the chance.
