And even more so for the Wedermyer shit.
I will say he doesn't look as slow as his forty appears. Dude was a top 100 prospect according to media people only a couple months ago. Funny how quickly things change. But that slow of a forty scares the shit out of me. How can you not run a sub 5 second forty? I'll throw a dart in the fifth, sixth or seventh round but screw anything else.

Yeah I'm starting to worry they really want to scratch the itch. And I get it to some extent. I don't think they plan in actually getting a long term deal done with Schultz and want real options a year down the road. I'm just worried that we are locked in right now to Guard, WR and TE in the first 3 rounds. I hate it, because we are just going to force picks that way. Sort of like we were dead set on corner last year. Missed our guys in the first so in the second it was corner no matter what. And in the end we only used the 3 corners already on the roster for the most part.
I do not have an issue with an offensive-centric draft.

I guess the real issue I have is how do you draft for a scheme/regime that might not be here a year from now.

Part of my issue with McClay is that he is super-awesome at bridging the clear talent issues and working it out the best he can. He is like a negotiator between idiocy.

There is a casino element to the process that is upcoming.

I would say it is exciting, but I am used to fuck ups.

Yeah I listed a bunch of TEs. I'd take them all before him.

They track all these dudes on GPS. I wonder how his on the field numbers look or compare. His film makes him look like he is at least Schultz fast but his testing says otherwise.

Absorbing a year of Schultz on the franchise tag just to let him walk would be so idiotic, although almost everything they've done this year has been idiotic so who the hell knows?

If we are doing a long term deal TE really shouldn't be the priority they seem to be making it. But maybe someone convinced Jerry that the two TE offense is dynamic yet again.

Yea who knows, it may be a signal that they're going to a more run-oriented/play action offense but taking a WR in the 1st would pretty much fly in the face of that.

Barely anything this team does is forward-thinking or even logical so whatever.

Yeah and it appears at least that they have a priority on pass catchers in general. TEs and WRs so the plan may just be "more weapons" to replace what we lost in Cooper and a gimpy half season of Gallup. But I clearly am not getting the plan because if the focus is pounding the ball we should be doing something to upgrade the Oline, not worrying about TEs.

And if you want weapons I don't think most TEs really burst on the scene and are great weapons in a passing game.

Right now you may be starting the season with Lamb, Washington and Noah Brown as your starting trio. Outside of Lamb that's ugly.

I could see a WR in the first, based on the way things fall. The best OL and DL will be gone, and the most talented player at 24 could well be a WR

I am pretty certain that there will be one of the guards still available. They are almost locked into that in the way they have mismanaged things. I would hope they don't think Mongo is a starting left guard in this league.

I could too but depends who. I think Burks and London are good players but not great fits. Wilson and Olave are great fits and I think they fit in great. And then of course Jameson Williams depending on yet another ACL.

But I'm still a big fan of Zion and Green. Frankly Penning too but I put minimal shot on him being there or Dallas raking a dude from UNI. There are defenders but I'm not sure we will really consider one at 24.

I know it's the be-all, end-all stat. But 20 reps on bench is pretty low for a big man like Green.
I mean if that's a concern to me at all it's a concern that he doesn't take the weight room serious enough. He looks strong and powerful on the field and has exceptional grip strength. The bench press isn't that big of a deal to me as long as work ethic isn't a concern. His coaches seem to love him so I don't think that is a concern.

Nothing like announcing to the world your draft day intentions.
To be fair, if you look at who we are inviting for visits, it spells out exactly what Jones just stated.

It has to be a work ethic issue when an athlete that big can't bench more than that. Even if a player thinks the bench to failure test is stupid, you'd think they would at least put more effort into it than that as part of their "job interview."

Unless he has some injury we don't know about.

If he’s available at 24, do you pass based on his bench rep count?
