Has he actually met with us yet?
No I'm sure our cap guy or someone has called and asked what the price is and it hasn't gone further than that. The Cowboys won't move until the player has literally no interest from anyone else. That's where the Cowboys really swoop in and do their best work. Which will never happen with Smith. The guy backed out of a contract with the Ravens so he obviously has offers. Which by the way I'd have taken Smith under that contract in a heart beat. Hell I'd give him the Randy Gregory deal.

As if they'll sign anyone in 2023.
Yeah same song, different year. This one is only worse because we dumped a bunch of talented guys at the same time. But nothing else changes with this organization. Petrified of free agency. Try to retain their own guys. Just for some reason this offseason they felt comfortable shedding a number of starters too which has us all extra disappointed.

They will learn from this year and spend the money. Problem is that it will probably be in the form of a Zeke extension.
I will run amok with a meat cleaver if he's on the team next year.

I feel that Dak is a good, not great QB.....Zeke is still a good back, Pollard is not a full time back, our line was bad last year and will, hopefully, get an upgrade this year.....our biggest need is a quality center.....our defense was flashy, but overrated....MM is being handcuffed or just lazy. KM shot his wad and looks clueless......Tank is really good if he can stay healthy and Micah, needs to play LB.

As I've said many times before, a huge reason for the lack of involvement from Jerry is because the stadium superceded the team as Jerry's pride and joy -- hence, why he's relinquished a lot of of control and decision-making to Stephen and to a lesser extent, Will McClay.

He doesn't get the same rush from doing team stuff anymore because he's much more proud of the stadium and pointing out the art in the building and things like that.

As a result, the days of being active players in the FA market are long gone and they aren't coming back anytime soon.
Good post. To ravi's point,. what was the last really big go for it trade? The (terrible) 2008 Roy Williams trade.

When did the new Monument to Himself Stajium come on line?... 2009. Probably not a coincidence.

What caused his post-Denver slump?

Was it his confidence? His calf injury/mechanics? Or did Denver actually expose us schematically?
I think the calf injury got to his head and he and KM didn't want to push it. That and the inconsistencies with the OL.
