The Cowboys could reignite the excitement in the fanbase by bringing home Smith, Wagner, and Mathieu. It would also put them in a position to possibly be even better than they were last season.

But the truth is, asking them to sign just one of those guys is probably asking too much of this front office and doing something like that makes too much sense for the Cowboys.

So we'll get a JPP at best and nothing more and wait to address everything else in the draft.

Deck is the most underrated Wu Tang member though, he has several of their best ever verses as a group.
Hell yeah he is.

The Rebel I-N-S is one of my favorite 3 in the group after Raekwon and the GZA.

Shit, I'd be thrilled with just 2 of them (ideally Smith/Wagner plus Kearse), I think our defense would be significantly better than last year in that case.

The irony is Jerry used to immediately sign the biggest names the moment they became available. Deion Sanders, Anthony Miller, Quentin Coryatt, Mark Stepnoski, Carl Pickens, La'roi Glover... we'd dip into cap Hell and the moment we were out ... Marco Rivera, Jason Ferguson, Anthony Henry.

But since signing Brandon Carr in 2012 the team has totally gone the other way. They make an extreme point of not signing any big names.

We all know why but it's just ironic, that's all. Early 2000's Jerry would be smacking 2020's Jerry across the head right about now.

As I've said many times before, a huge reason for the lack of involvement from Jerry is because the stadium superceded the team as Jerry's pride and joy -- hence, why he's relinquished a lot of of control and decision-making to Stephen and to a lesser extent, Will McClay.

He doesn't get the same rush from doing team stuff anymore because he's much more proud of the stadium and pointing out the art in the building and things like that.

As a result, the days of being active players in the FA market are long gone and they aren't coming back anytime soon.

Stephen is clearly the problem when it comes to free agency. The only way that changes is if Jerry forces the change.

Our drafting started getting better around that time as well, because they started listening to their personnel folks.

It's a shame they didn't decide to enlist some help with contracts in a similar manner, rather than just cheaping out to avoid "cap hell".

Right.... But I don't think he cares enough to get involved.

My guess is the only way he overrules or takes over is if he feels like death is around the corner and he wants to take one last great stab at winning a SB and therefore goes on a spree.

Outside of that, I think he'll just continue to leave that stuff to Stephen.

I agree, unless Gregory walking out the door or something like that lights a fire under Jerry's ass which it doesn't appear to have done.
